Or does holding a Nintendo Switch to your face seem off-putting?
Microsoft just posted the third quarter of its 2024 fiscal financial results. The software maker made $61.9 billion in revenue and a net income of $21.9 billion during Q3. Revenue is up 17 percent, and net income has increased by 20 percent.
Xbox content + services up 62% while hardware down 31%... seems about right with the way they tout you don't need the hardware to play. People can play on their phones or smart tv or other means. I don't hardly play on my consoles directly since getting devices like the logitech g-cloud and ps portal. Which is to also say I have been playing more digital than physical because of these devices.
Too expensive hardware when others offer the same or more for less? Good work, Green Team.
"Despite some early successes for Xbox games on rival platforms, Xbox hardware is down by a massive 31 percent this quarter."
"Without Activision Blizzard, Microsoft’s overall gaming revenue would have actually declined this quarter."
"Xbox content and services would have only been up a single percent without Activision Blizzard..."
"It looks like next quarter is going to be a similar story for gaming at Microsoft, too."
That is crazy... so A/B/K is carrying the whole Xbox gaming.
Oh and Microsoft will be fine. Windows, Office and Cloud are growing with each pc purchase.
PSLS writes: I have traveled across the country using the Razer Kishi Ultra in airports and hotels for both PlayStation Remote Play and mobile gaming in general, and I am thoroughly impressed.
A new patent recently published by Sony wants to gather biometric data of gamers to track whether one is being harassed using AI tools.
I hope this is one of those patents that never comes to fruition.
I already dislike the fact you can pay a significant amount for a online service buy associated games and content on said service and get banned from that service over potentially a misunderstanding the bans are already handed out for flimsy reasons
I'd rather see money invested in a ban that simply removes the offensive players ability to communicate with unknown players allow them to continue party chats with friends but not with Joe blow on cod.
Take my social security and bank account numbers too! Here’s a picture of my wife and our address.
At this rate I feel Sony will eventually sell a room to play games in it where they can monitor your every breath
I want them to censor erotic content by measuring my groin temperature so i dont get too distracted while playing black ops 2.
Terrible idea. Not only do I not consent to providing my biometric data, the potential for mishandling biometric data is almost a certainty. Positive stress and negative stress can produce similar changes in biometrics. Interpreting the precise emotion a person is feeling is not only invasive but could be easily misconstrued. I hope this never comes to fruition.
guess it depends on the experiences. My guess is these will be short, simplistic interactions that allow you to do a few cool things but hardly anything as robust as you might find on things like the PSVR or Rift/Vive.
Nope. It will help in some ways garner interest in VR. But not lead to mass market adoption. It's too limited but may lead gamers to upgrade to the next level.
Crazy as it sounds, I started with VR like experiences and videos using the genius of cardboard, a Nexus 7 2013 tablet (because my Android phone wasn't powerful enough) and some good old fashioned duct tape. Surprisingly, that 720 screen was good enough for my wait for PSVR. I knew PSVR would blow it and me away. Just like room scale experiences must be blowing away PC gamers by walking around. It's not the power. It's the experience.
I may not be a Facebook fan, have never had an account and partly think Zuckerberg's information gathering is a backdoor for the government in exchange for personal profit.
But something like Oculus Quest is the answer. Even if it may be true that one of the higher ups left because the company is trying to bring more consumers aboard with a lower power stand alone. I think it's the right decision. You don't need a PC or a console. Could it have had an 845 chip instead of 835? Sure. But the cost would be higher. That's what evolution is about. It will get better.
I think the battle is somewhere in the middle. PCs needed are expensive. Consoles closed and limiting. But right there in the middle would give us App access, PC software and console like games that you can just pick up from a table and use on a whim wirelessly.
The tech is there like Oculus. Sony has the sensors, screen tech and know how to build one. Even the tech at Microsoft with Hololens 2 and the inside out easy set up of MR headsets say that it's possible. Nintendo's toe dip in the water is more like a stepping stone to what's coming. But I'm glad they are testing the waters at least. Now test Metroid Prime with that gun please.
LOL
As usual Nintendo is always behind in technology coz they are so stingy.
Also mobile VR is more mass market than Nintendo not the othet way around.
Is the author living under a rock?
I have to say no. The Labo is aimed at kid and I doubt the experience would be anything substantial like other VR headset such as the PS VR.
