Not really, there's a story but it's not as narrative driven as say Metal Gear Solid or Resident Evil. I would definitely pick up the DMC HD Collection and the HD Re-Release of 4 as well but it will be perfectly enjoyable for newcomers.

Well Deserved Capcom. This is what happens when you start listening to fans. Turned Street Fighter V around, MegaMan had a great comeback, Monster Hunter World breaking records, Resident Evil 2 Remake being outstanding, now bringing back the real Devil May Cry. Wonder what they'll do next.
