Awesome Pea is full of nostalgia but this game isn't like most nostalgia trips, it also has the old school gameplay to back it up; playing like it came out on Gameboy, in all its green glory instead of in 2019.
Frankly, this is Pea’s greatest fault — there’s nothing inherently special about the platforming, so if it plans to lean heavily on visual nostalgia, it needs to do it well.
In the end, if you are just looking for a no-thrills platforming game, Awesome Pea may just be for you. Granted, it’s pretty short, but the price point is right and the controls and difficulty are on par.
