The Division 2: Open Beta Gameplay On A GeForce 2070 RTX

Here are the opening missions from The Division 2 Open Beta as captured on a GeForce 2070 RTX card

LordoftheCritics2306d ago

Looks like its running on a toaster.

Garethvk2306d ago (Edited 2306d ago )

I7 over 32gb of ram. It was very laggy.

tresse2305d ago

It must be your other programs running. I played the closed beta on an i5/970/8gb at 1440p medium settings and I got around 50-60fps.

nveenio2305d ago

Yeah, I'm playing this in 4K on a 1070 Ti SC, and it's very playable at max settings. (This is a super clean PC, though.)

AshleeEmerson2305d ago

In this case "looks aren't deceiving"... AT ALL!

I'll stick to my PS4.

Adexus2305d ago

The hell is wrong with the video? It's unwatchable, the beta runs flawlessly on my 8700k, RTX 2080

Garethvk2305d ago (Edited 2305d ago )

It has lag issues with recording. The Private Beta did not like Shadowplay and I had to use the other and I noted a bug that stopped the game from launching if you started the game with Xsplit already up. It was laggy to me. Look at the Private Beta video we posted; much smoother and better resolution. I will post it with this as a way to compare.

Adexus2305d ago

Shadowplay's recording just fine for me, got the latest drivers and such?

Garethvk2305d ago

It runs well but records badly. I have tried Xsplit and Shadowplay and they played ok but recorded badly.

Garethvk2305d ago

It is doing better with the Open Beta. It did not work with Private Beta so I will try that one. It seems this is a known issue as the forums talk about stuttering and lag issues.

Parasyte2305d ago

Would be nice if I could play it. I can't even get to the character creation screen before it crashes.

Garethvk2305d ago

If you have streaming software loaded it can crash. What I had to do was start the game then start the software after it loaded up. At least with Xsplit. Shadowplay was ok.

Parasyte2305d ago

I don't stream. I just installed a new RX 580 and have been having a few issues with it. The first Division game was constantly crashing on me with my old gtx 680 as well.

Hydrazinezz2305d ago

Its probably time for a 1060 or higher its 2019 lol

badboyz092305d ago

PC is overrated! Show me a game on PC that graphically looks and runs better than "Detroit:Become Human"

badboyz092305d ago (Edited 2305d ago )

looks and runs better I'll wait?

Elwenil2304d ago

Just about any game will look better on PC due to the higher resolutions available, and potentially can run better depending on the hardware. I run a fairly old spec PC, i7 4790K, 16 GB Ram and a GTX 1070Ti and I can run games at 1080p better than any console with frame rates well above 100 FPS with higher detail and effects settings than what consoles have access to. In the end it's subjective what looks or runs "better", but factually a PC with the right specs can run more, faster and most of the time that is better.

badboyz092304d ago (Edited 2304d ago )

All that writing and still no games.

Elwenil2304d ago

Ghost Recon Wildlands, Tomb Raider games, Far Cry 5, pretty much any shooter but BF5 especially if running a nice RTX card which enables ray tracing, something that current consoles can't touch and might not even make it into next gen consoles. But very few games will you find that don't offer better detail and resolution options than the console versions. If you truly feel that PC gaming is the same as consoles, then you honestly have no clue what you are talking about. Go experience a nice, modern gaming PC and see for yourself. This isn't fanboyism, this is simple fact. I play my PS4 all the time and I love it, but some experiences are just better on PC or completely unavailable on console due to the demands of the game.

Garethvk2305d ago

I uploaded a Shadowplay video and it was much smoother. It seems to have an issue with Xsplit as it records choppy with it and also will not load at times if the program is up. You have to load the game first and then the program.

Blood & Truth his number one game. Nice pick. One of the best VR games ever made. Basically Uncharted in VR with British gangster skin.

Abnor_Mal2001d ago

Blood &Truth was the truth. Well written story of London underground shady characters. Lots of action that made the game play out like a summer blockbuster movie. The shooting was memorable with only one hiccup on the elevator trying to target while behind cover was a bit troubling. Will play though it again on the new hard mode and also try to use the Aim controller for the shooting gallery. Such a great game and can understand why it was picked as the authors game of the year.

The Division 2: Episode 1 D.C. Outskirts Review - Parallax Media

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 had a strong start to the year, and while it wasn’t perfect, it still proved itself to be leagues better than the original game’s release back in 2016. Ubisoft has hopes to continue the upward trend with the latest release of free DLC, Episode 1 – D.C. Outskirts.

Do “Online-only” Games Need an “Offline” Mode

Should companies start planning for a game's shutdown ahead of time? Would offline spin-offs or patches that let people play something unplugged be wise for the future?

Then they wouldn't be "Online Only"

Kingthrash3602161d ago

Why just flat out no? I mean what would it hurt to have some kind of offline mode so you can still use the product you paid for if their server goes down or the internet goes down or you just want to play alone and relax?

Online only just means it has an expiration date.

JackBNimble2161d ago

What's the problem with offline mode ?
I don't see why this can't be an option.

-Foxtrot2162d ago (Edited 2162d ago )

By that meaning a game like Monster Hunter World or The Division which allow you to play by yourself but require you to be constantly online where you can't even pause the game?

Then yes...yes they do.

If you are playing by yourself, are in a private session with no other players and you aren't playing with friends or are in a party then there's no need to be constantly online.

ApocalypseShadow2162d ago (Edited 2162d ago )

I Didn't buy it but here's a perfect example: Starblood Arena

Attempt to patch it for offline but failed

Goes offline tomorrow.

The developer should have had single player with optional multi player from day one. When you make a game online only, that cuts out a large group of buyers. When the servers go down or other online gamers move on to something new, you can no longer play. Also, single player games with online connection is also wrong. There's no need for DRM.

When you buy a game, you should be able to play it when you spent money on it. At least have Bots as an option.

I know the intent is to make an online game. Or, the developer doesn't have funds to do both. But when some developers who have less money can do both, it looks like a cash grab of micro transactions with no trade in value or something you can't lend to a friend.

I mostly play single player anyway. But I did buy Firewall Zero Hour used for $17.99 because it looks great and is awesome with the AIM controller after the free weekend demo. I refused to buy it new because of what it is. It's online only with barely no single player options except for training missions. And only **ONE** mode for online. ONE. No story, no hostage saving, no PvP free for all, no capture the flag, etc. And the developer seems fine with not adding any other modes but more micro transactions. Which is sad. So I only play the training missions which is like horde mode until the game goes offline. Then it's unplayable because it requires an online connection. Single player option with Bots not requiring online should be a must for any game you buy.

Zjet2161d ago

Yes.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint being online only is an absolute stupid decision.

Anthem could be rediscovered and preserved if it had offline single player support, but now it will most likely shutdown and die and be lost to history forever.

Etc etc

Media preservation is becoming more of an issue these days but the new age consumers are being told to treat services like goods and pay for them not to own but rent.
