Kingdom Hearts’ Best Villain Continues to Get Sidelined

While the Kingdom Hearts Maleficent character started out as an intimidating, formidable villain, her role has increasingly diminished. That needs to change.

If they ever softboot the series and redo everything I hope they make Maleficent the main villain...no Ansem, Xehanort Organisation 13 and the like just the main Disney villains joining forces. Basically something like what we saw in the first game only for it to be revealed they were being used.

They’d never reboot or even soft reboot the series now. They’d just start another continuing arc

Also Nomura didn’t make Maleficent the main villain of KH1 for a reason as instructed by Hironobu Sakaguchi.

I think it's time for Sora and co to be laid to rest, there story is done.

Softboot it, get a better more concentrated story together, keep Donald and Goofy in their roles but have a new Keyblade wielder.

If they continue with it now they'll keep bringing up past games to make sense with whatever new story they come up with and honestly with how overly complicated the games have gotten you just need to cut ties with whatever they can.

If they start again they can make things better to follow and stick to the basics.

Kinda the entirety of KH3 alludes to her regaining the top spot as villain. But I'm not certain she is the enemy of the half pints. She is necessary to keep the light in check in just the same way the guardians guard the light.

With the way the game ended Sora will still be a part of the ongoing plot of the series. He can’t be dropped either.

The story is already convoluted enough. If you drop Sora you might as well just drop all the other original characters connected with him and they wouldn’t do that.

At this point there’s nothing basic about Kingdom Hearts.

The whole game actually alludes to the Foretellers playing a big role in KH4. Maleficent may be a big threat again but not the main threat since they'll want to continue using her in future entries.

I was hoping for her to be more of a threat in this game. Can only hope her and Pete get some DLC action or in KH4.

Eh, Maleficent was used up in KH1 and Pete had his time in the spotlight in KH2 but they should have just been left out. After KH2 they were both pretty defeated, there wasn't really a purpose for them in KH3 which is perfectly fine.

Apparently the KHuX game is trying to explain how she was able to come back to life in KH2

Plus the series can’t just drop Disney’s most iconic villains altogether

They dropped all the other villains that served their purpose and there are plenty of other villains in the Disney catalog to pick.

Because they were world based villains

The series still needs Disney villains that transcend their world of origin and interact with the overarching plot similar to Mickey, Donald & Goofy. Pete & Maleficent fit the bill even though they’re not as intimidating as the original villains of the series

Maleficent is treated as such a joke by the heroes they no longer even feel threatened by her appearance anymore. She even got saved by them in one point

I seriously hope she gets some payoff because all she’s been doing lately is underwhelming. Even Hades doesn’t want anything to do with her anymore

I liked how it was in kh1 where all the disney villains grouped up. Now they all just do their own thing. I mean I like the organization and prefer original kingdom hearts villains to be the main antagonists and all but itd be cool to see the disney villains sorta team up again.
