Was Metro Exodus downgraded? E3 2017 trailer vs Final/Release version Comparison Videos

DSOGaming writes: "Metro Exodus has just been released and a lot of gamers have been wondering whether the game has been downgraded from its E3 2017 reveal trailer. And while we haven’t reached the outdoor level that was showcased in the E3 2017 reveal trailer, we’ve decided to share below two videos that compare the final version of the game with its E3 2017 build."

Of course it was the same thing happened with the Witcher 3 but regardless both games are still gorgeous.

You'd think by now gamers would realise its target renders for the games we see or a vast majority of them are pc builds

Nate471890d ago

I still feel that's false advertisement and if they can't show something very close to final build then don't show anything. God of war was one of the few games that actually turned out better on release in many respects. Hopefully next gen will give us reveals that can deliver on final product. Til then, hope for the best but expect the worst lol

I could tell when they released first real gameplay vids it was downgraded. This is why I stopped watching E3. Seriously, do not watch e3 if you do not like being dissapointed and lied to. But Metro Exodus still looks good but nothing like that E3 vid

starchild1890d ago (Edited 1890d ago )

Nothing like? God, some of you are such hyperbolic drama queens. It mostly looks the same. And even where changes did take place I think the final build looks better in some cases. Not every change is a downgrade.

If I was a developer I would just stop showing anything until the last few weeks before release, since some gamers are too immature to understand that games in development are a work in progress. Things are going to be balanced, tweaked, rearranged and altered for both artistic and technical reasons.

In any case, I'm playing Metro Exodus on my PC and it's easily one of the best looking games I've ever seen or played.

Nate471890d ago (Edited 1890d ago )

I agree, but a work in progress isn't the same as revealing a game that will no doubt need to be downgraded to run on current hardware. If it's work in progress perhaps don't show the game running on a super powered PC with even prerendered moments passed as actual gameplay (anthem hub area).
(*Don't know about Exodus, I'm referring to these practices in general)

Forn1890d ago

Unless it's a Sony exclusive, chances are things will be downgraded by release.

Sgt_Slaughter1890d ago

Nintendo releases actually get upgraded before release since graphics and polish are last on the list for development.

CP_Company1890d ago

Really? And where hundreds of articles how crackdown was downgraded? Media is in m$ pocket. We see these articles about sony games or others.

A lot of "downgraded" games are just perceived like that because fog was reduced / enhanced on some areas or the lightwork change all over the place, looks like models are on the same detail level as well as textures and animations, but there are lots of lightning and scenery changes, so... it may "look" like a downgrade, even if it's not.

And that's the same effin' story for almost (note the almost) all the games.

watch this. game was not downgraded, it is obvious that game got even better. looks much better.

Metro Video Game Series: A Comprehensive History

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

TheBrainZ76d ago

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco3376d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast76d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.

I put about 50 hours into playing Sparkle Unleashed.

SurgicalMenace454d ago

Sparkle is a very addictive experience.

Babadook7454d ago (Edited 454d ago )

Nice reminder.

I added Vice City and Metro Exodus.

Mr Logic454d ago

It doesn't work like that. Extra works just like Gamepass or Netflix. Once the game is gone from Extra, then you can't play it. It does not function like regular PS+ where you "claim" the game and then can play it in perpetuity as long as you have an active account.

Knushwood Butt454d ago

Yep, I confirmed this with RDR2 a couple of months ago.

CobraKai453d ago

Is there an average life span for a game before it gets removed? I have a few games on GP I started but couldn’t finish cuz they’re gone. Now there’s this feeling of having to playthrough games before they go. I shoulda just bought em outright.

jznrpg453d ago

6 days is enough time for for Metro . Probably not for Vice City though I’ve never played it

Pedrof454d ago

Guess I'll hurry on playing Saint's Row 3 Remastered.

MONOLITHICIDE453d ago

How come content gets removed? Also why are there barely and ps1 ps2 ps3 games on there.

Smitty2020453d ago

Wish they would just add more classics

jznrpg453d ago (Edited 453d ago )

I believe they want trophy support before they put it on the service so they have to patch them in first .
I hope they do get the best jRPGs of PS1/2, actually just about all JRPGS would be my preference but that’s asking a lot especially since they don’t own many of the IPs. They do own IP they haven’t put on it yet . The service is new so there is still hope for more .
Unfortunately it’s very possible we are the minority who want old games on the service and mainstream want PS4/5 games mainly is my guess.
I am going to post wherever I can and let Sony know many of us older fans want a lot more PS1/2 games on the service or even just to purchase would be fine with me but preferably both .
Hopefully they do more games like they did Arc the Lad , Rogue Galaxy , Dark Cloud 1&2 , Okage etc . But I agree they need more .
I only want the old games with trophies as I’m sure I own just about everything I would want to play but my versions don’t have trophies.
