The best Metroidvania games on Nintendo Switch not named Axiom Verge

SwitchEra.net writes: "Metroidvania games are most notably categorized by their sprawling worlds, usually traversed in a 2D platforming fashion, that have several roadblocks that can only be accessed after players have found the necessary upgrade — and finding that upgrade itself requires backtracking, finding new areas, and even more upgrades; these characteristics define the games that spawned the genre: Super Metrioid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night."

I am a huge Super Metroid and Castlevania fan but this cookie cutter term needs to vanish because 2D games of this nature will be judged unfairly against the the two game series that are not really the standard.
If the new 2D game's design is anywhere near it fanboys will call them clones or rip offs. If they present a new and different ideas fanboys will say theyvdon't live up to the standards. Its like damned if you do and damned if you don't catch 22.
Same with platformer games They are automatically harshly judged as Mario clones by the fanboys in the media.
This pack mentality of Nintendo fanboys needs to to be wiped out.
Its unfair to many small developers.

Symphony of the Night is a Playstation game. And that game has just as many standards as games like Super Metroid. So don't just label the NIntendo fans as the ones who are doing a disservice here. You like to act like Nintendo fans are the only problem here, but you are so very wrong.

I'm a sucker for these types of games, currently playing through hollow knight above red dead 2 and pretty much everything else, but after seeing the trailer to Bloodstained on nintendo direct yesterday which blew me away and after proclaiming i wouldn't get a switch until i see the new metroid prime or a compilation of the prime games, Bloodstained convinced me otherwise. talk about taking 2d platforming and turning it on it's head...wow.

Steamworld Dig 2 and Momodora are good shouts, but Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is the best Metroidvania I've played in years and the fact it doesn't appear on this list just shows that it passed everyone by. I really hope it gets more attention when it arrives on Steam because a game of that quality getting overlooked is just ridiculous.

Can play a single Metroidvania game with that horrible Joycon's, had to buy the adapter for ps4 and xbox one controllers.

Castle Cab Is a Crazy Taxi-like Co-op Game That's Coming to Switch and Steam

"Sega's Crazy Taxi is an arcade driving classic. It introduced the concept of picking up fares in a taxi and then delivering them to a destination at a breakneck pace. A few games have been inspired by Crazy Taxi, the most interesting of which has to be the upcoming Castle Cab from new indie Australian developer Royal Reign Studios. Not only does Castle Cab take place in a fun medieval setting, it will also feature 4-player split-screen co-op," says Co-Optimus.

Cat Quest III Is Heading to Apple Devices on August 8

"A big part of being a cat pirate is sailing the seas and traveling from place to place. What better way to do just that than by playing Cat Quest III on the go? Soon, aspiring kitty pirates will be able to enjoy the charming cat-themed action RPG on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. That should be a purrfect option for gamers who don't have the game on Switch or Steam Deck. The iOS version will still support 2-player local co-op, thankfully," says Co-Optimus.
