Crackdown 3 delays have made it almost impossible to care about it

Crackdown 3 is set to launch in just a matter of days. This should be an incredibly exciting moment, as the Xbox 360 original helped sell gamers on that entire generation of games. But it's hard to get excited.

Delays aren't the problem. Games like the Last Guardian and Dreams were/have been delayed plenty but at least the final product was high quality. Crackdown 3 just looks and plays like a game from the past which makes it hard to care about it.

Agreed, last guardian is one of best games of all time, certainly in my top 10.

A delayed game that looks like it's been rushed . . . . . . THINK ABOUT IT

No party system on a multiplayer game?

mandingo6d ago

I mean it wasn’t rushed. The game was always going to look this way even if it took 10 years. They just couldn’t get the cloud tech to work for destruction and they should have scrapped the game then. Still disappoints me that only the mp has full destruction and the destruction still looks just ok. Oh well, let the game die let’s stop talking about it via these articles eh?

Cloudgine was bought by epic. Which delayed development. Because they took their tech with them. This is the last game from the Don Mattrick era and the last game where Microsoft puts their own reputation on the line for a 3rd party dev. They got screwed by Platinum and now they got screwed by Cloudgine and Reagent. It's safe to say Microsoft won't be having any major 3rd party exclusives any time soon beyond indies.

I know a lot of people don't believe it but they did have to create their own system from scratch after epic brought cloudgine. It's still no excuse though, if Microsoft has been marketing this cloud tech since the beginning of this gen and been so reliant on it they should have brought cloudgine themselves or just cancelled the game years ago. I really hope this is the last time they make such a huge mistake and don't even get me started on no party play at launch that is just not acceptable and flat out embarrassing.

It'll be in the bargain bin soon.

Game Pass will save this game. And they might keep a healthy player base if they stick to it, Like Rare did with Sea of Thieves.

mark_parch5d ago

If it wasn't for gamepass I think sea of thieves, sod2 and crackdown would have been epic failures.

and it looks boring, I don't want to play that... it looks like something Pixar would have made early 90s

Zeref6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

How does Crackdown 3 look boring to you?

Crackdown 3 has plenty of arguable flaws but it looks far from boring.

cha0sknightmare6d ago

It really does look boring. The fun factor that most people were excited about was the mass city wide cloud powered destruction. Now it's just a meh boring, bland looking game.

mark_parch5d ago

The multiplayer is a huge let down but I still think anybody who liked the first crackdown will have fun in the campaign

A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.
Either they went to headstrong with the cloud technology, or the direction/ambition went awry.

you forgot to mention that the quote you used is by Shigeru Miyamoto right? Still, true af

A delay-and-fall-under-the-radar game will always be a terrible game.

KickSpinFilter6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Delays!?! No...Weak!
How about uninspired game play, and major downgrades in Destruction and World.
Ya TLG, and FF come to mind, they turned out great.
True that CD3 is not out yet but it's starting to feel like The Order 1886 just meh. And we all got that feeling even before that game was out. FYI DREAMS looks dope the more you see it. CD3 very much the opposite.
