Crackdown 3 is set to launch in just a matter of days. This should be an incredibly exciting moment, as the Xbox 360 original helped sell gamers on that entire generation of games. But it's hard to get excited.
Delays aren't the problem. Games like the Last Guardian and Dreams were/have been delayed plenty but at least the final product was high quality. Crackdown 3 just looks and plays like a game from the past which makes it hard to care about it.
Agreed, last guardian is one of best games of all time, certainly in my top 10.
A delayed game that looks like it's been rushed . . . . . . THINK ABOUT IT No party system on a multiplayer game?
I mean it wasn’t rushed. The game was always going to look this way even if it took 10 years. They just couldn’t get the cloud tech to work for destruction and they should have scrapped the game then. Still disappoints me that only the mp has full destruction and the destruction still looks just ok. Oh well, let the game die let’s stop talking about it via these articles eh?
Cloudgine was bought by epic. Which delayed development. Because they took their tech with them. This is the last game from the Don Mattrick era and the last game where Microsoft puts their own reputation on the line for a 3rd party dev. They got screwed by Platinum and now they got screwed by Cloudgine and Reagent. It's safe to say Microsoft won't be having any major 3rd party exclusives any time soon beyond indies.
@Zeref I know a lot of people don't believe it but they did have to create their own system from scratch after epic brought cloudgine. It's still no excuse though, if Microsoft has been marketing this cloud tech since the beginning of this gen and been so reliant on it they should have brought cloudgine themselves or just cancelled the game years ago. I really hope this is the last time they make such a huge mistake and don't even get me started on no party play at launch that is just not acceptable and flat out embarrassing.
It'll be in the bargain bin soon.
Game Pass will save this game. And they might keep a healthy player base if they stick to it, Like Rare did with Sea of Thieves.
If it wasn't for gamepass I think sea of thieves, sod2 and crackdown would have been epic failures.
and it looks boring, I don't want to play that... it looks like something Pixar would have made early 90s
How does Crackdown 3 look boring to you? Crackdown 3 has plenty of arguable flaws but it looks far from boring.
It really does look boring. The fun factor that most people were excited about was the mass city wide cloud powered destruction. Now it's just a meh boring, bland looking game.
The multiplayer is a huge let down but I still think anybody who liked the first crackdown will have fun in the campaign
A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad. Either they went to headstrong with the cloud technology, or the direction/ambition went awry.
you forgot to mention that the quote you used is by Shigeru Miyamoto right? Still, true af
A delay-and-fall-under-the-radar game will always be a terrible game.
Delays!?! No...Weak! How about uninspired game play, and major downgrades in Destruction and World. Ya TLG, and FF come to mind, they turned out great. True that CD3 is not out yet but it's starting to feel like The Order 1886 just meh. And we all got that feeling even before that game was out. FYI DREAMS looks dope the more you see it. CD3 very much the opposite.
Well that and it not delivering on what was initially promised doesn't help, either.
This is not a $60 current gen game. Period. Now, is Microsoft inflating the asking price in order to make game pass look like a deal? If the cloud power is suppose to increase a consoles performance, then what will be exceptsble for the original Xbox one with the added 12x computational power? Or will it still be sub hd with performance issues like 98% of all the original Xbox One versions? There is so much negativity that this game alone puts on Microsoft.. it really is not even funny. So far, their game pass offerings, majority, have been overpriced indies that have been introduced way too early per content and bugs. The cloud will literally show you every lie they used to sell the cloud. But the big kicker... we all know we will not see the 12x power on the original Xbox one, that’s a given.., but the results on the one x will be the most interesting using the same cloud boost.
Naw, delays aren't the problem, you keep saying about cloud and then we don't see the cloud technology and wonder why this game keep delaying us really hard to get excited
Xbox owners will be embarrassed for having this game running on the cloud. This game will disappear in no time as if someone paid to bury it....or maybe not, cause Xbox is short on games.
The power of 20 Xboxes and still runs at 30fps
If it came out when it should Im sure it would be passable. But as it stands the game looks stuck in the past. All these quality battle royale games out, fresh stuff. And we have a third person shooter on rails pretty much. I got a free trial of game pass. I’ll have a peek before I completely trash it
False, im excited. Do i care if its the best game ever? No. All i care about is if its just as fun, if not more, than its predecessors.
if you liked the first game you will like this, Im just pissed at Microsoft for stringing us all along with cloud bullshit for the last 5 years.
Ive been replaying the first game and having a blast. I cant imagine the new one will be worse than Crackdown 2.
Once again, I would just like to know why so many people on N4G are wasting their time talking about and commenting on articles about something they have no interest in?? Seriously, scroll down the page and see how many articles there are about how terrible Crackdown is, even though it hasn't even been released. If it so bad, why talk about it so much??Im confused...
Everyone leave MS and crack down I want my Echo Chamber...
Echo chamber? There's almost nobody here even saying anything positive about the game. The only echo chamber is that of Sony fanboys hating on the game. I've never been excited for Crackdown 3, but if others are then leave them be. Why is it your mission to bash everything that isn't your preference?
Oh no, people are rightfully criticizing your precious Crackdown! Whatever shall we do!?
Nobody here has played the game, therefore you comments make no sense. Next week, once you have played it, if you have criticism, then it will be valid...
Is it the said with any other game with multiple delays ?
This game gonna get shredded.
Picking it up for sure! Hopefully I personally find it enjoyable.
There's no way it can be worse that Crackdown 2.
Time can kill any hype.
impossible is an arbitrary boundary you invent yourself. has the game suffered a lot of delays. yup? does that suck? yup. im gonna cut it just a little slack for trying something innovative that could be potentially revolutionary and that no one else has successfully pulled off yet - cloud compute. i'd say if anything that raises my curiosity. if you don't want to care about it thats fine, but lets be honest and say you just don't want to be interested and you want others to know that or you never had an interest and want to be a part of the not so elite fraternity of xbox bashers. delays themselves are punishment enough for studios because those delays result in unexpected, increased costs. if you care about something, a few delays is a flimsy reason to stop caring is my point. last time i checked, tesla model 3s and God of War were also delayed a few times and still managed to sell very well.
Any new video game release will get sales, it might not be the top seller of the month but it will sell. It seems the Multiplayer runs pretty cool on the cloud, but we'll have to see how the main game handles. There are a ton of good releases this month and next.
you can't play with your friends in wrecking zone at launch which is unacceptable. campaign looks fun though
And it’s impossible like quality good games ....sarcasm
I would care about it, in spite of the delays if it didn't look like trash.
I bet you eat up any trash Nintendo barfs up though...
I care and will play day 1.
it‘s not the delays. it‘s the generic nature of this title in a saturated market.
I honestly cannot fathom how this game is generating any excitement, it looks like such a outdated game, in particular, the combat looks dreadful. If this does better than Sunset Overdrive did then something is really wrong, for me, it speaks to how desperate the more blinkered Xbox fans are to have an exclusive to brag about; the game looks so middling. Its fascinating really because Crackdown was a good launch game but fairly dated mechanically and Crackdown 2 was pretty poor so quite where the hype comes from anyway is a bit odd to me. Gears of War.....sure, fantastic series with a great track record, HALO.....sure, incredible series with some of the best shooter experiences on console and the same goes for Forza in respect of the racing genre. I just don't understand the hype for a franchise with such a chequered past, open world games have moved on.
There's really not that many people bragging about it. Mostly just people who enjoyed the first crackdown looking forward to the campaign like myself. It definitely deserves all the bad press though, launching with no party play in wrecking zone is unacceptable and the cloud tech is a joke.
I genuinely hope you have a great time with it squire, I guess my own experience of the original was different to some. I thought the game was good but repetitive back in the day, having said that, I did play it for something like 20+ hours so it did have something that kept me coming back. I guess the point I was trying to make is that I am not so sure that the franchise warrants the amount of hype MS seem to be expecting from the game. Happy gaming though chief, I hope you have a great time with it.
@LoveSpuds Microsoft even admitted they came up with the cloud tech first and then decided it would work with crackdown so it was definitely forced which shows. like you said it has definitely been over hyped it should have just been crackdown 3 campaign and given to a competent developer who could get the job done a lot quicker. Even if I enjoy the campaign it's not going to hold my attention for long with all the other games coming out like sekiro. One things for sure Microsoft can't afford another calamity like crackdown 3 lol
It's not just the delays. It's the stink of mediocrity, and the fact that all the systems they spent years hyping have been gimped into something completely un-impressive. Crackdown is just not the sort of exclusive game Microsoft need to be pumping out.
So wait. Man saying because game was delayed he don’t care about playing it anymore? But he cares enough to write and article about it? What idleness. Take that time you take to write about not wanting to play a game and instead use that time to actually play the game. It’s in gamepass so not a huge monetary value
