Why I Wont Leave Destiny for Anthem

From PSU: "Back at E3 2017, EA announced a new game; Anthem. Anthem is an online multiplayer RPG that, at first glance, seems to duplicate what Destiny built.

The world was fully explorable through sky, land, and sea. Creatures roam around freely and the world appears to be alive. However outside of the announcement trailer, BioWare nor EA really gave too much information on the game."

I have decided as well to just stick with Destiny 2 as my looter shooter. No time in my life for 2 such games and frankly it's too early to know if Anthem is really better. Hopefully, now that Bungie is free from the influence of Activision, they can better pursue their vision for the game. And frankly, Destiny 2's shooting is far superior to Anthem's IMO.

Glad I'm an adult and can enjoy multiple games at once and not feel like I have to choose if more than one game is pretty fun.

pietro12121898d ago

You know they could also be an adult limited on their gaming (responsibilities and stuff) because of that they're selective on what games they play.

Hungryalpaca1898d ago

Sounds like you’re an adult with no adult responsibilities.

Kosic1898d ago (Edited 1898d ago )

Don't cut out the division 2 , with 8 player dungon/raid things. That sounds interesting. The beta plays like the first but fine tuned.

bigmalky1898d ago (Edited 1898d ago )

You're in an abusive relationship with Activision's ex, talking about a potentially worse one with EA. Get help. Get out.

DaveZero1898d ago (Edited 1898d ago )

Is it a love triangle then with the division added??

bigmalky1898d ago

Definite Stockholm syndrome in that case.

OffRoadKing1898d ago

Everyone I've talked to so far that pre-ordered and played the VIP demo has cancelled their pre-order.

Lon3wolf1898d ago (Edited 1898d ago )

Opposite is true for me with more pre-ordering after the open Demo.

averagejoe261898d ago

Same. I had no intention of buying this game until the demo. Now its a day 1 buy for me and all of my friends I game with.

DaveZero1898d ago

I thinkits safe to say thqt if sales dont pull off on anthem then it certainly is because of a failed demo.

Really it's a shame because a demo doesn't tell how the final game is going to be. However the failure to fix the problems on the demo before the lights off does give me cause for concern.

We all should reserve our judgement for anthem though until final release.

I bet the division 2 private beta hits the ground running with minor fixes needed and nothing game breaking.

sprinterboy1898d ago

Personally I think it's the EA backlash still and obviously the poor demo.
Plus I don't think anthem was ever that omg can't wait to get anthem in the new year?

OnlyThoseOnTheFence1898d ago

BS. Nobody who was hyped enough to pre-order would have been turned off by the two demo weekends to such an extent that they would do a full 180. Spread your hate somewhere else.

OffRoadKing1898d ago

Cause you know how everyone feels and dictate their personal choices? You seem upset that people I personally know canceled their pre-orders, you must have a stake in the games sales potential to be this bothered. What I said was a fact based on personal experience not hate so stop being petty.

Hungryalpaca1898d ago

The VIP demo made me cancel my preorder. It was so repetitive when it actually worked. All the missions were exactly the same. The only good thing was flying and customization but that is going to be a massive grind or give EA money.

Plus only 3 strongholds? I beat the one in the demo in 30 minutes on hard with my friends...the game seems like it has very little content.

ECHOINFINITY1898d ago

Destiny has always been straight up fun. It's had its highs and lows, but whenever I have taken a break from it there's never been another game that could fill that niche for me. The Anthem demo didn't even tempt me to leave destiny.

william_cade1898d ago

I'll stick with Warframe. Free to play with fair mt's for a free to play game.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter326d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell326d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig326d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast326d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername326d ago (Edited 326d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g326d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka326d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai477d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface476d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard474d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
