Emulators are legal, and are able to play legally owned games. They are not just for piracy. This article does not mention anything about piracy. The only one who mentioned any illegal activity was you. Learn before you preach.

Depends what country you live in. There are many factors. Whether the emulator you're using is legal (as in built in a clean environment with no copyrighted code), whether how you got a digital copy is legal, whether or not you're bypassing any copyrights. Not that people ever get prosecuted for any of it. Although, I can't say I've ever met a person who emulated games they actually owned either xD

Don’t kid yourself. Most of the time, people pirate games for emulator.

Furthermore, legality doesn't necessarily equate to morality. There are plenty of unjust laws, and if you're downloading a 20 year old game that you can't really purchase from retailers anymore, I don't believe there is anything morally wrong with this.

Depends very much on the country's legislation. In Japan, these things will land you jail time.

The vast, vast majority of those are not lost sales. If anything it might mean that certain people get into buying and supporting Nintendo games even though they don't own the console.
