Praey for the Gods, a spiritual successor to Shadow of the Colossus, has us hooked

The early access title already has plenty of polish.

More than anything, it’s just surprised that a game of this quality has been produced by an independent team of just three people.

I’d like to play another title that’s like SotC

Hope this lives up to expectations

I haven't seen anything on this in quite a long time. Really interested and hopefully the end product delivers.

Praey for the Gods Review - IGN

Praey for the Gods is a Shadow of the Colossus-inspired adventure with sluggish controls, distracting survival mechanics, and painful bugs that make it hard to recommend.

LucasRuinedChildhood1231d ago

This review is very negative but I did find and submitted a very positive review as well:
https://n4g.com/news/245860...

I had a bad feeling when there was no reviews at launch but is the 4-5 range really going to be this game's average score? I'd like to see what some other reviewers (Easy Allies, Eurogamer, Edge, GameSpot) think of it.

jznrpg1231d ago

Forza had messed up multiplayer bugs but no mention 9/10 . This has bugs 4/10 . Screw sites these days ! Now I’m not saying this doesn’t deserve a hard review for bugs but this is an indie game and Forza is a 1st party big budget title . It’s stupid the way games are reviewed

Neonridr1231d ago

wait are you saying that this game is better than Forza?

4Sh0w1231d ago (Edited 1231d ago )

@jznrpg
You might as well say this game has colors like FH5 so they both should get a 9.

FH5 plays superb most of the time and the game itself is a well crafted experience that is arguably the best there is within the genre...unfortunately this game according to the reviewer has some big issues, as he clearly stated:

"sluggish controls, distracting survival mechanics, and painful bugs that make it hard to recommend"

-These flaws have nothing to do with FH5, thats on the devs, hopefully the right feedback helps them learn and get better.

@neon you miss his point, the way i understand with that post is at least be fair when reviewing games, doesnt matter if its 1st, 2nd, 3rd party, high budget AAAA or indie.

Sometimes a well known ip getting the pass of for example lack of content, bugs etc, while new ip does not.

Neonridr1231d ago

@tagzskie - the difference here is that while Forza might have a few bugs, it's still a brilliant game and extremely fun to play. This game has problems, and on top of that isn't that much of a good game.

I wouldn't really compare the two here in this case as it really doesn't apply.

tagzskie1231d ago

@neon a bug is still a bug though. What if jznrpg also think this game is brilliant and fun to play just like you think in forza? Theres no such thing as not good comparison. In the first place this game is not a racer for me its awful comparison but hey its his opinion but i still get what he mean.

So what if Forza is 1st party with MS money behind it. Many 1st party games also don’t get reviewed well. You expect simply for being indie a game needs to to be treated more lenient. Its almost insulting cause some of the best games this year are indie titles like Death’s Door, Kena, Inscryption and Loop Hero.

Technically all games have bugs, it’s when you’re constantly running into them, ala Cuberpunk, that it becomes the problem.

tagzskie1230d ago

@crimson amen to that and that goes w/out saying. The game became no bugs when you play the game and not encountering it. If its game breaking bugs i can live with that negative reviews.

I think it's easy to copy and paste a genre like Souls-Game. But the SOTC genre is something else entirely. The base game here is an absolute masterpiece considered to be a true work of art even by non-gamers.
Unfortunately for the developers of "Praey for the Gods", this burden is heavier than anything else. I really hope they don't get discouraged and learn from their mistakes. I really appreciate their attempt!

Abnor_Mal1231d ago

That is a pretty low score, and reminds me of the other game Extinction with giant ogres. I was also excited for that game as it too was similar to SOTC, but when I finally got a chance to play I was deeply dissatisfied with the clunky controls.

Spenok1231d ago

From what I have read of user reviews on Steam, don't listen to this rubbish review.

As for Extinction however, you are absolutely right. That was a poor game.
