Burnout Paradise Remastered is certainly one of the only good things EA has done in the last few years.

In my opinion, Burnout 3 is much better than Burnout Paradise.

The need for speed games are decent, but they focus so much on story that they are a bit of a turn off. I genuinely prefer just picking the race from menus and moving on to the next race event through there. Also the focus on open world for racing games is a bit overplayed. I have to drive to the next event? Lame. It’s okay to have an open world mode, but a menu base career mode without story is preferable to me.

Totally agree, racing games don't get better than a series of tightly designed events one after the other with no filler. Open world design is...ok, but it's not peak racing for me.

badz149103d ago

Yeah...I think so too. BO Paradise being the most acclaimed entry in the series buy ironically, it was the one that turned me off the series altogether. Tried several times to like it since the PS3 version, nah...not the same. 2 and 3 were awesome on the PS2!

I hate open world racing games. I love learning the track which is almost impossible in an open world city.

Retroman102d ago

NFS used to be fun now all open world racing. Used to be able select your cars and tracks. Now you drive through a town to get to the race what kind of Crap is that?? Open World is overwhelming. I'm at the point if I want to play NFS it'll be closed circuit old skool NFS PS2 era
Criterion is ruining my favorite racing game.

Nuclearmoon102d ago

Midnight club, Project Gotham racing and burnout were peak racing games for me. All arcade racers but at very different levels.

People need to differentiate between Racing games and Driving games. If you just want to race, don't choose an open world game. If you just want to drive around an interesting environment, choose an open world game. There is room enough for both.

SoloGamer1101d ago

i 2nd this! I love them both! Forza Horizon 5 is an amazing open world driving game.. just as Gran Turismo 7 is an amazing racing game. room for both

I hope they go ham on the destruction

TiredGamer497d ago

I hope it’s not another open world snore fest. Burnout 3 was the pinnacle of the series with tight and focused events that didn’t have you pausing to look at a map every 10 seconds.

Nacho_Z497d ago

Totally agree I loved the series then Paradise killed it for me. It was well made but I didn't like it at all. It's the perfect game for simply choosing a race from a list, an open world slows momentum and is a waste of resources.

KwietStorm_BLM497d ago

I loved the hell out of Paradise. Some of the most fun I've had playing with friends, and with the amount active lobbies when it was around, some people liked it. It's not gonna be the same game with every entry forever. Things change. And you honestly can't single out that game as the downfall of the series when we all know EA franchises and studios are always on the chopping block.

Deeeeznuuuts497d ago

Yeah, gotta disagree with you, paradise was actually a fun open world game in a world full of boring open worlds, the online integration was good, the vehicle variety, the road variety, music, the crashes, using the camera to take mugshots! 🙈
That's not saying I wouldn't like a Burnout 3 style game, I'd still enjoy that too but wouldn't mind another open world if they did it right like they did with paradise

KwietStorm_BLM497d ago

You could have just played the races if it's that hard to learn the map.

Nacho_Z497d ago

Did anyone want the map though? Did it push the series forward or kill it? It was the last Burnout game so maybe that answers that question.

TiredGamer497d ago

Absolutely can’t get into Paradise. Have it on multiple platforms and it’s just cumbersome compared to the originals. I want to come home, jump into a few events, and as soon as one is completed, pick another one from a menu immediately. Nice and tight, no filler.

Rebel_Scum497d ago

Nah 2 was the pinnacle. The takedown mechanic slowed down the gameplay too much.

Snookies12497d ago

Agreed. Burnout 2, 3 and Revenge were simply amazing games. Put so much time into them... Paradise was a fun game, for sure. But it definitely lost a lot of the magic when it transitioned to open world.

You can still play Burnout Revenge on Series S/X via backwards compatibility. Still available on the Xbox Store.
Strangely, Burnout 3 isn't backwards compatible.

Rebel_Scum497d ago

Its not available because it got taken down lol.

I’ll see myself out.
