Give it a minute for the usual "Scarm Citizen!!" comments. It'll be the usual suspects I'm sure.

Razzer1910d ago

Anyone who actually checked out what Chris Roberts and his team are doing would not call this a scam.

TK-551910d ago

There'll always be people that would rather look and draw a conclusion rather than investigate and be educated.

Imalwaysright1910d ago (Edited 1910d ago )

Exactly. This game is massive and well beyond any other game in terms of scale and ambition. It's pushing gaming to levels we have not seen before.

Eonjay1910d ago

Well after passing GTA V in cost, one Hope's that there would be an endgame in sight.

bluefox7551910d ago (Edited 1910d ago )

Why do you think those comments keep coming up? Must be a conspiracy. I wouldn't say a scam as much as a cult. Listening to the zealots dogmatically defend it is a bit frightening tbh.

TK-551910d ago (Edited 1910d ago )

"There'll always be people that would rather look and draw a conclusion rather than investigate and be educated."

I already said why. They're uneducated and don't know what they're talking about. It was only a few months back where people were saying "lol 200 mil and the game isn't even playable" when the game has actually been playable for years and been positively recieved by backers.

If you wish to prove me wrong show me a game with flight mechanics as in depth as Star Citizens that also has an a strong FPS element while also being an MMO. You can't can you?

Also here's the teaser for the SP: https://youtu.be/VppjX4to9s...

Now if you want to comment again do some research before hand instead of being a sheep.

OffRoadKing1910d ago

A scam is exactly what this is.

TK-551910d ago (Edited 1910d ago )

Prove it. Back up your comment with facts, please.

vTuro241910d ago

I wouldn't expect too much from this place.

OffRoadKing1909d ago

216 million of digitally panhandled money for trickle fed alpha content. The fact is its a scam and any intelligent person can see that, the amount of money they charge for a ship alone is ridiculous, $275.00 for one f-ing ship? Feel free to keep throwing your money away though if you want.

Oh you are a star citizen alright, they scam you hard.

nyu11910d ago

This is the same planet shown over a year ago, except this is the actual implementation, so they're doing new assets for this planet , whereas the demo was more like placeholder stuff.

This is about whitebox - greybox phase, and still design work going on, so it will look considerably better.

SegaGamer1910d ago

So when this game isn't complete by 2025, will we still excuses made for it?

sinspirit1910d ago

- "If you are going to call something a scam, at least research the meaning of the word and get your facts right about the games you are talking about."

- "..there is plenty of information, if you paid attention and did some research, you would find it"

You should look into why Star Citizen is taking so long and how it has an immense amount of features that no other games have and how it cuts no corners while making everything take place in an MMO environment. Just because they have an incomplete alpha right now doesn't discard their achievements, whereas other studios simply wait till release is near to throw public access out there.

- "And finally, nothing you said makes it a scam, you obviously don't know what a scam is. All they promised was an attempt at making Shenmue 3 a reality and that is exactly what they are doing."

So, you said in the past that as long as an attempt at Shenmue 3 is made then there is no scam. But, Star Citizen overachieving and pushing much further past a list of features to get it out of the door is? So, you just jump on whichever bandwagon seems cooler or suits your tastes? Very cool

SegaGamer1910d ago

The funny thing is, I didn't even call Star Citizen a scam in my comment above XD But what I will say is that they are shifting goalposts to make as much money as possible. I believe they are looking to make a game, but at the same time, I think they want to nickle and dime their fans as much as possible. I think they will delay this game as much as possible to make as much money as possible from it.

At least with Shenmue, we are actually going to get an official release, can you be sure Star Citizen will get released?

It's true what they say about Star Citizen fans, they are incredibly defensive. That must have taken you a very long time to find those comments of mine. We are talking about a years worth of comments to run through you weirdo. Maybe you should get out more.

sinspirit1910d ago (Edited 1910d ago )

@SegaGamer

" That must have taken you a very long time to find those comments of mine".

Type "SegaGamer" "Star" "citizen" into one search. Only takes seconds.

The point is you're a hypocrite. You made excuses for one thing because as SegaGamer you're defending Shenmue III. A previous Sega exclusive franchise. But, your only intent to click an article about Star Citizen is not to read or learn about it but to post fanboyish comments against it. Which, btw we've all heard before.

Quit with the "defensive" label. You either like something or you don't. It's a bit ridiculous to come attack a product with intent to have pitchfork comments in agreement or to get replies of the opposite view. "Defensive" is bound to happen when people both like and dislike something. Stating someone is defensive isn't inherently bad or degrading.

What delays would they make for this game that has no release date? It's literally stated it will be finished when it is, or when funding runs out and stops coming in. So, clearly your comment is uneducated and fishing for agrees with negative banter.

SegaGamer1910d ago

"Type SegaGamer Star Citizen into one search, only takes seconds".

Yep, and it comes up with nothing, so you must have done exactly what I said you did. You actually went through nearly 2 years of my comment history just to try and make me out to be a hypocrite, and even then you failed to do that XD Just searching for something at all is pathetic, but to actually spend that much time looking through my comments makes you look like a massive loser too.

There is nothing about my comment defending Shenmue 3 that makes me a hypocrite. The game had just reached it's two year development time and somebody releases an article calling it scam. The positions Star Citizen and Shenmue 3 are in are not even comparable, they shouldn't even be bought up in the same topic. Just because they are both crowdfunded, it doesn't make their situations the same. There isn't a single hypocritical thing I said.

Like I said, I didn't even call Star Citizen a scam, you just assumed I did, making yourself look like an idiot at the same time.

"Stating someone is defensive isn't inherently bad or degrading"

No, you're right, but when you go as defensive as you have, it makes me think you know that people are at least half right about this game. At this point, the game may as well be owned by EA......actually, I take that back, not even EA would be this bad.

sinspirit1909d ago

@SegaGamer

No.. You have to literally put quotations on the end of each word. How else could I have posted that mere minutes after your original post? Why don't you try going through chat history to specifically find the terms necessary, when the comments on a persons profile are shrunken versions to fit in a list on the profile so it's incomplete information. It would take many many hours to go through that many comments. You're also pathetically trying to tell me what I did because you don't know and couldn't comprehend what I just told you to do? Lol. Just learn how to use a search engine.

No. It's not pathetic. Being a hypocrite is. Which you are. Pandering to negative drama to gain attention is pathetic. Which you did.

Uh. Yes. It does make you a hypocrite. But, since you can't comprehend.. You were defending the game by saying "there is plenty of information" about it. But, why don't you research Star Citizen? You said "get your facts right about the game you are talking about" and yet you know nothing about the game you're criticizing. See. My comment wasn't about your thoughts on Shenmue 3. It was about the principles that you claimed to uphold about being knowledgeable and objective for what you're talking about and yet here you are.

Just defending something doesn't make it weaker. You can stop trying to use typical psychology for lack of argument. I merely put you on the spot for trying to incite negativity about something you don't know about.
