It better have a price cut when it launches on steam

CaptainCook1912d ago

Doubt it. It'll be cheaper on Epic Store since they charge less fee 10% compared to Steam 30%.

Bladesfist1911d ago

It's not cheaper in the UK. I paid £49.99 for the game on Steam and it is the same price on the Epic store but I don't get cloud saves and the rest of steams features.

LightofDarkness1912d ago

I'll be waiting then. I will not oblige Epic's underhanded, brute-force tactics.

I understand the need for more equitable revenue sharing, but Epic's sleazy buy-ins are not my cup of tea. Better the devil we know, in this case.

If they build an attractive enough platform, people will come.

Elda1912d ago

That's basically an entire year & in 12 to 14 months from now most folks would have played the game already & moved on to other games. If Steam can't get the game until 2020 they should tell the company making the game no thanks.....that they can keep Metro-Exodus.

SegaGamer1912d ago

Agree with your first point, but there is no need for Valve to take such drastic actions. There is no point falling out with devs and a publisher over one game.

Elda1912d ago

This is true but if Valve/Steam is bothered by this which they seem to be why not tell them don't bother knowing releasing the game on Steam 12 to 14 months later hardly anyone will be buying the game anymore & Steam has basically lost out making some profits off the game.

CaptainCook1912d ago

" they should tell the company making the game no thanks..."

Why would Valve say that? They don't want to lose out on potential profits.

Elda1912d ago

Steam won't be missing much,Deep Silver don't make many games especially blockbusters.

ZeroX98761912d ago

They could've just lower the 30% fee to 12% like epic does and be done with this.

If valve didn't bother lowering their fees to be more competitive, then they made the executive decisions that it wasn't worth their time. Simple as that.

W34KN35S1911d ago

yeah can someone explain this to me , is this a business thing. Why doesnt valve just do the same thing that epic is doing? If they did im sure everyone would go back to steam. I know people say competition is good but I just want my games on the same client and my account has already been hacked on epic client from fortnite days somehow. Regardless , is this some kind of business decision why Valve wont just copy the model of epic to eliminate the competition?

Ausbo1912d ago

Why are you PC gamers so mad about this situation? This is good for gamers and the devs. Steams monopoly has gone on too long. It’s time for some good competition to come along and challenge them.

Livingthedream1912d ago

It's only good for Devs doesn't really help PC gamers.

Ausbo1911d ago

This particular case helps the gamers cause its $10 cheaper

Bladesfist1911d ago

It's only good for US Gamers as of only right now. Would you also support the next big game only being available at a single retail store and do you think that store would have any incentive to lower the price of the game if they are the only one selling it.

I think publishers just want to see Nintendo like game prices on PC, we have too many sales for their liking.

riibhu1912d ago

This is not good for gamers though. It's just moving from one monopoly to another, not real competition there.
If it had been released on both storefront then it would've been a real competition.
Also compared to Steam Epic store doesn't have the same features so not really good for gamers. It's only good for the publisher who will get better cut.

Razzer1912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

Epic Game Store is not a monopoly.

logotero1912d ago

Steam is not a monopoly.

Valve never paid a third party dev to make their game only available in their platform.

Gog never did that either, not even origin.

Steam has made their exclusives, but not forced them, the actual devs want to publish in steam.

Epic Games Store is paying, taking off the customer right to choose.

Now pc gamers don't have a choice, do you want exodus? download their shitty client without user reviews.

That is called a monopoly. Not competition.

Razzer1912d ago (Edited 1912d ago )

So you think any company that pays for an exclusive game is a “monopoly”?

TK-551911d ago

@Razzer

It is a monopoly in the sense that the only way to buy the game is through EPIC. They paid for their service to be the only one capable of distributing the game. That's not competition. If they wanted to make a pre order bonus for their service that isn't ideal but it's competition.

Look up the definition of monopoly because it can be applied in this circumstance. EPIC have effectively monopolized the distribution of Metro: Exodus on the PC platform.

Razzer1911d ago

Sure you can use the word "monopoly" in many different ways, but that isn't how riibhu used it and that is not how it is being discussed. None of these companies are monopolies in the gaming industry.

logotero1911d ago (Edited 1911d ago )

Any company paying for an exclusive game is totally anti-consumer. I told you once and i'll tell you everytime, the only reason why your beloved god of war isn't on pc or any other platform is because greed, a paycheck. Do you think Sony wants you the best? Do you really believe that shit? Valve doesn't care about that neither, but at least they haven't ever paid a fucking fortnite v buck check to put this anti-consumer practices on the pc market, not even origin did that.

If we accept what Epic Games Store is doing, this will slowly be perceived as normal. Like you console users, that think paying for online multiplayer gaming is normal.

Razzer1911d ago (Edited 1911d ago )

logo just now figured out these companies are making games for the money. Brilliant and amazing revelation there, Einstein. Every damn one of these companies are guilty of that. You want to argue about which one is better or worse then have at it. You're a damn hypocrite if you jump on that "greed" soapbox and defend any one of them over the other.

Ausbo1911d ago

I was talking about this particular case because it’s cheaper for the gamers

Livingthedream1911d ago (Edited 1911d ago )

Is there something impeding you from purchasing this game on PC? It's more likely that you're a steam fan, and dont like what's being done. All you have to do is download a new client, you canstill pick this up on your PC. I think it would be a bigger issue, if it only ran on let's say AMD hardware vs Nvidia.

Psychotica1912d ago

Because people are tired of having to install all kinds of different client software instead of just having one client software containing all their games. It doesn't bother me that much but that's the main reason I believe.

Hungryalpaca1911d ago

Because this is forcing players to download a boatload on launchers and clients from different companies just to play different games.

Imagine if you wanted to play battlefield on your PlayStation, had to sign into another account, JUST to play that. Then you wanted to play destiny. Well now you gotta launch another app just to do that.

It’s super annoying.

This was a publisher decision.
The publisher is Deep Silver.
Deep Silver ruined the trailer for Mighty No. 9.
Deep Silver is the publisher for Shenmue 3.
Pray for Shenmue 3.
