What the Metroid Prime 4 Remake Says About the Now Popular "Logo Reveal"

Logo reveals are a risky gamble, but they've become necessary.

SuperSonic912298d ago (Edited 2298d ago )

Wait Metroid Prime 4 logo is supposed to be a remake?!

Logo reveals are by losers for losers.

It screams 'we are really low on content, so here you go, have a logo!'

Nintendo need to stop licensing out AAA titles to Z-list Devs. Or you know, stop wasting in house resources producing so many Wii u ports and actually focus on creating new content.

Nintendo never learn, generation after generation the fans have to endure months of games release drought. But at least in the last generations your patience was rewarded with new and original games. Now you just get 'delux' editions (is ports or remasters)

Nintendo are really testing gamers patience with the now inevitable 2024 release date for prime 4.

If you are lucky you might get a logo by 2021.

“Logo reveals are by losers for losers.

They show the logo because they want to let fans know that yes, they are developing a new Metriod game, they haven’t forgotten about the franchise and they hear the fan’s request. They are very transparent with this so I don’t know what you fault them for.

“Or you know, stop wasting in house resources producing so many Wii u ports and actually focus on creating new content. ”

Do you even know how many new exclusives coming to the Switch this year?

JunMei2296d ago

No. They are remaking it as in restarting development from scratch.

Nodoze2296d ago

So has Retro fully imploded then? There are stories about how badly the studio was mismanaged and the fact that it was a miracle that Prime was released at all. I am very thankful that it was as it is a masterpiece.

Logo reveals are SPACE fillers. If they cannot even show concept art or a trailer....don't bother.

--Onilink--2296d ago

What? They gave the game to Retro after taking it from another developer (rumors pointed towards Namco Bandai)

The 10th Rider2296d ago (Edited 2296d ago )

Retro supposedly has a game to release this year. They were probably working on it when Prime 4 started development and as such were unavailable to start it. Prime 4 development went sour as Retro was finishing their previous game, so they get Prime 4. We'll probably hear about Retro's game at the next direct or at E3.

Also, while I'm not a fan of logo reveals, I don't see how it's any worse than the CGI trailers we used to get . . . like, for instance, the FF VII remake trailer.

pecorre2296d ago

Another game that was announced way too soon. Exactly like Elder Scrolls 6. If you have nothing to show, show nothing.

PhantomS422296d ago

The case with TES6 though, Bethesda knew Fallout 76 was going to get a lot of backlash being online only and that TES fans would be pissed if all they had to announce was a crappy cellphone game. They needed to at least acknowledge that it was in development to relieve some of the heat. Bad side for them is despite Todd Howard being annoyed with being asked when it's coming he is now going to get asked about it at every interview and there is even more pressure now because 76 was a massive flop.

Really curious about the true story behind this and what went wrong to make this change.

The 10th Rider2296d ago (Edited 2296d ago )

I get why Nintendo announced it. Fans have been clamoring for 3D Metroid for a long time. If they waited another two years to announce it that would have been another 2 years of "Where's Metroid?", "I guess Nintendo doesn't care about Metroid", etc . . .

However, I think they wold have been better off just making an announcement akin to the first Smash 4 announcement or the No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again announcement. Just verbalize it's starting development.

Fluttershy772296d ago

Logo reveals are not a necessity. Just reveal the game when you have something solid to show.
I was so happy with this... and now I'm like... sigh...

i wonder how well thats gonna work.

darthv7239d ago

mouse aiming should feel very fluid and natural to any PC enthusiast.

UnbreakableAlex39d ago

Because of the new high greedy Nintendo prices, people will play the game on an emulator on the pc or Mac anyway.

gold_drake39d ago

yeh just read about the game prices. ridiculous

Jin_Sakai39d ago

I guess no one remembers when some N64 games were $75 and $80 back in 96.

Ps5conehead39d ago

Nintendo is a company to make money. There not a charity.

badz14938d ago

@Jin_Sakai

Keep bringing that up. You are doing a good job. Because N64 was a huge success for Nintendo and they didn't get demolished by the PS1 that gen, right?

I mean ultimately it means you have to play with a flat surface. Great for those people who play games at their desks on computer monitors, less so for those of us who like to sit back on the sofa and play.

But nice that the option is there at least.

lukasmain39d ago

The world's most uncomfortable mouse lol

Neonridr39d ago

I've held some pretty uncomfortable mice in my day. I'll have to try it out to see, but I'm sure they've done extensive testing with it. As long as the width is stable enough that it's not gonna tip over everytime you try to move it, then it should be ok. Plus it's a great option for those who prefer mouse style aiming.

--Onilink--39d ago

Also, there is no way there arent already third party options ready for release date where you just pop in the joy con in a more usual mouse shell, but it doesnt necessarily look uncomfortable even without that

Jingsing39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

Yeah, I said the same thing. If the mouse doesn't at least support your hands resting arch position you are in big trouble. I don't see how this would.

Neonridr38d ago

you don't think Nintendo tested this feature? They just decided to slap on an optical sensor and be done with it?

blacktiger39d ago

I been asking this for long time and nintendo is about to make all fps a mouse standard game, I hope

lucasnooker39d ago

It can be played like a real PC shooter when you’ll soon be able to emulate it on an actual PC lol

Jingsing39d ago

As long as they are smart enough to do most of the work first before releasing the emulator and then putting it in a decentralised location and repo.

Ratchet2339d ago

They just copied lenovo go handheld system.

drivxr39d ago (Edited 39d ago )

and Lenovo copied them with detachable controllers?

Jingsing39d ago

Nintendo copied Android gaming tablets that had detachable controllers that the big tech sites laughed at until Nintendo did it (Engadget, Verge etc hypocrisy). and didn't do it any better.

Metroid Prime 4 Looks Great, and We’re Still Debating If It’s a Switch 2 Game

The final Nintendo Switch 1 Direct just gave us our best look yet at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond—and it’s stunning. But here’s the big question: Is this actually a Switch 2 game? Join the NVC crew as they break down the new trailer, analyze Samus’ psychic abilities and the jungle planet Viewros, and debate whether this is a cross-gen release or a last-minute upgrade for Nintendo’s next console.Plus, we’ll discuss why Metroid Prime 4’s long development cycle (and lack of a release date) has us suspicious. Is Nintendo holding it back for the Switch 2? Or is this truly the Switch 1’s final masterpiece?

_SilverHawk_43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Metroid prime 4 looks so dated and bland. I hate it when fanatics can't be objective because it sends the wrong message about what's good so Nintendo continues down the same wrong path. The short gameplay of metroid I've seen is enough to convince me that the game is rubbish and not worth full price. Im hoping Nintendo doesn't continue with low quality and bland looking games for the switch 2 and only relying on games brand name to sell. The switch 2 is a new generation where it's possible to have very powerful handhelds or midrange handhelds that can handle modern games with very good performance. Switch 2 shouldn't have games that resemble switch 1 games or even have performance issues like switch 1. I've seen a lot of games on ps3 that looks a lot better than metroid prime 4 and the ps3 was released 20 years ago.

Levii_9243d ago

Look i get it Switch is ancient, i hate that fact and i'm so sick of the console and can't wait to get rid of it finally for Switch 2 but you can't deny that this game isn't impressive looking running on such an outdated hardware. We'll find out soon if exclusive Switch 2 games will look just like Switch 1 remasters or something better and more, but judging by that short Mario Kart teaser... ehhhh... hmm i don't know.

_SilverHawk_43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

All i would like from the switch 2 is to be able to run modern games like gta 6, assassins creed shadows cyberpunk and others with performance similar to having medium to high settings on a pc at a stable 30 to 45fps locked and having the ability to buy all previous Nes games from the original to the latest switch without renting. I would also like Nintendo to have Nintendo online to be as good as Xbox live and psn with a proper party system and no silly friend codes

ZycoFox43d ago

It doesn't help that they don't use the latest tech, and then drag it out for 8 years when it should be more like 5-6 tops.. especially being a portable device which gets outdated quicker.

Levii_9243d ago

It's not a Switch 2 game it's a Switch 1 game. It will be a cross gen game like BOTW was. Switch 2 version will have better framerate, resolution and texture filtering.

Plagasx43d ago

My thoughts exactly. It'll be on Switch 1.

originaljohn42d ago

I wasn't really excited by the trailer editing and no solid date given but the gameplay looks great and environments look super atmospheric. Retro doing wonders on the Switch again.

badz14942d ago

"it's stunning"

LOL the bar is really REALLY low for Nintendo. Stunning, sure...for 2010!

With "E3 Season" Now Over, Here Are Some Of The Best Games To Look Forward To

Following the major video game showcase reveals over the last weeks, games like Astro Bot and Doom: The Dark Ages are highly sought-after.

Profchaos325d ago

I went from being unexcited about anything that wasn't GTA vi to having a fully stocked end of the year especially after that direct

LostPotato324d ago

It's not over yet still have the THQ showcase and Games-Com this summer,

TwoPicklesGood324d ago

Xbox has a ton of games lined up. I was hoping more would be coming to PS5 but I think I’m going to finally subscribe to PC Game Pass since no matter what, it will still be a better deal. If MS makes a handheld, I’ll buy a console, if not I’ll play on PC.

phoenixwing324d ago (Edited 324d ago )

You could buy a steamdeck if you actually have a pc library. And If you don't have a steam account I feel sorry for u when you claim to own a gaming pc
