Pinkerton Detectives Still Exist, and They’re Tired of Being the Bad Guys

The security agents, who gained fame as Old West law enforcers, are still around, now as specialists in corporate security and risk management. They aren’t happy about being antagonists in ‘Red Dead Redemption II.’

They weren't really that great in history, so they shouldn't complain.

I could see if they were presented as bad guys in their present form, but the current Pinkertons are not what they were back when RDR2 took place. While I doubt they were quite as melodramatic as they appeared in RDR2, they did plenty of nasty things.

One can't, or at least shouldn't change history, but instead of worrying about what you were, worry about what you are now.

It's not like Pinkerton is a household name, available to everyone, and their services are known to the people who can afford them, and that's about all they have to worry about. What they did back around the turn of the century isn't what they do today anyways.

I mean you need to accept the sins of the past. You've had over 150 years to shape and reform your image and even though there is most likely a huge difference in how you conduct business, you can't sit there and pretend the past never happened. RDR2 isn't depicting how you all are in modern society, they are depicting what they have researched from history. Also, there is the general disclaimer "This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales, and incidents are either the products of imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental." I'm sure RDR2 undoubtedly has this at the end of the credits.

The pinkertons were also used as an army for hire by rich robber barons to stifle union strikes that were just trying to get enough money to live a life outside of work.

They also did a lot of good as an early interstate detective agency, but innocent blood is still on their hands.

I would have included the Uncharted games as well. Good list though.

Island would be #1 but that would be anything from Frontwing.

Haha it is not lost on me that two of the games in the top four were already novels before they were games

I have to wonder where all the people are then, because there are def not 200 million playing online, not even close. It's not a dig at the game (besides the fact they abandoned everyone that doesn't play online) I have been enjoying gta since the first gta on playstation.

DodoDojo81d ago

And that is why GTA6 doesn't need to be priced at $100.

It's honestly insane how massive GTA has become.

Sadly I own it for PS3/4/5 even though I’ve never played it. I did get them for super cheap though and still unopened.

Such a great game, loved the story and characters. It just sucks there was some annoying real slow mechanics and such that made it an inch from perfect for me.
