With New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe launching at a premium price, is it OK to justify it? We think so!
No it isn’t. How can you look at certain games that get remade from the ground up get budget prices yet look at remasters like this that get minimal effort put into them yet still get sold for full price?
the actually have missing features due to the lack of a second screen !
A whole mode missing and still worth the price many years later... What can you expect from the worst form of fanboys.
In that case, the Wii U was missing a portable feature too.
k hold on. You're suggesting that it might be a better idea to play the wiiu version. I've actually never really pirated this game on wiiu (because the file was too large).
the Nintendo buttlicking is strong with this article.
Like resident evil 2? Made from ground up £45. No ones crying about capcom.
They didn’t even make the effort of adding online multiplayer into this release Meanwhile you look at titles like Ratchet & Clank ‘16, Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy, Shadow of the Colossus, Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, & Crash Team Racing, Nitro Refueled which had far more work put into them get released at $40. Apparently it would kill Nintendo to release any of their retail games at budget prices.
Nintendo fully understand their loyal customers XP And we will never be one of them.
I would consider myself a loyal customer of Nintendo (as well as Playstation) but no way in hell am I paying the asking price for this. Half it and I might consider it. Maybe.
That’ll be Nintendo selects in 12-18 months ;) like the majority of these switch ports will end up along with the launch switch games.
We? I doubt you own a Switch. If you don’t like the price then don’t buy it. That will show Nintendo how crazy they are for pricing the game this high. Anyway, judging from the sale number that this game got (#1 in UK chart), I doubt many people have a problem with it.
Yes, people buy it, that's why Nintendo releases these ports for full price, and understandably so from their point of view. But it's hard to deny they are overpriced to pretty much every other remaster or remake on the market.
I bought it and I definitely disagree with this price. The things I'll do to play co op games with my kid. The fact that you are defending this price is hilarious and sad.
No it's not
Just play the 4K version on CEMU. It runs perfect.
So it's justified coz they are banking on how poor the WII U sold ... and hence the game "Only" sold 5.7 million ... so not that many people are actually replaying it ? that's absurd !
I never played it, although I have played the other 'New' games in the series so I knew what to expect. However I pre-ordered it on Amazon and the price lowered below $50 so I am quite content with paying that much. For someone who loves 2D Mario and if I didn't get the lower price on Amazon, I would've happily paid $60 for a game I never played before.
The problem Nintendo have is the games already look as great as they are gonna look sure they launch at a premium price but these are top quality games if you haven’t played them more than worth the price even if you have if you wanna play again they are worth the price do you have to buy them no, was it alright for Sony to port majority of PS3 exclusives yeah so I don’t see prob with Nintendo doing it. Did last of us and GTA5 get a port for fractions of the price no they game out at full prices. You can now get last of us in Playstation hits range and in a year or 18 months you’ll be able to get these also. Haven’t played the new one but if the extras and quality is there like Smash Bros and Mario kart 8 deluxe got no problem with solid 8,9/10 games getting another chance to shine. The fact you’ll get more than an hour per £/$ speaks for itself but hey if you’d rather buy call of duty or fifa arguably the same game every year for £40 crack on. I’ll have this game that’s been released twice in 7 years and won’t be getting another rerelease any time soon.
£39.99 for a game I could be going back to in 5-10 years over a game like Fifa £79.99 a year for some free extra cards and a loan player a game that won’t get touched ever again after 12-18 months, yeah it’s a tricky one 🙄🤦🏻♂️ 😜
Blacklisting this site.. Gtfoh
The ones complaining are the ones probably paying for loot boxes and blew who knows how much money.
The point is that this is a port of an old game that is rereleased for full price (as is the case with the other Wii U ports on the Switch). They could have priced it at 40 at least.
Like GTA5 when it came out again a year later. Oh wait. It was full price
Absolutelly. There's only two kind of people: Nintendo fans that pay $60 for a lazy remaster and people playing Battlefront II. Nothing more.
What about people who bought an X for 4K 360 games 😑
Nintendo fans pay anything for stuff with Nintendo logo on the cover. They know their fanbase and make huge profits from them.
A lot of Nintendo games deserve to be sold at a budget price (mario party, mario tennis, Mario bros, DK tropical freeze etc) but aren't. It's a complete joke. We'd like mario party just for once in a while when people are over who'd enjoy it but I'm not paying $90 after tax, gimme a freaking break.
No way it is! Game should be no more $30, period! Nintendo is screwing us all over. Its not right.
Yeah, $30 would have been the perfect price point.
the Nintendo defense fanboys will tell you "nobody is perfect" so, that is why the game is worth $60
Last of us, gow3 GTA5 did not all come back out at $30 but Nintendo should release their games at half price. Sure. Quality costs money and if you don’t wanna play day 1 then wait a year or 2 and get it on the cheap. You get way more than £1/$1 per hour of gaming waaay more yet some games with fractions of the content can charge same prices. Nintendo games last hence they still sell them years later.
By offering a budget range 3ds and Wii U both had them and switch will or maybe it’s the quality games they screwing us with Microsoft don’t even offer a budget range and have charged for online for 15 years. Nintendo didn’t charge for any online across ds/3ds Wii or wii u but yeah they the ones screwing us Microsoft’s £40/50 a year to do the same play online is well worth it.
Youre right and youre wrong. I agree about microsoft screwing people with the online cost. Quality games indeed Nintendo has, but these are older remasters that were already $60. There is no need to charge the same amount for the same game that came out years ago! I dont care what platform it is on. Im not really seeing this from Sony. Spyro and Crash remastered are good examples! They didnt charge us $60. Nintendo exclusives never go on sale either. They usually stay at $60 and may go down to $55 on sale, but thats usually about it. I love nintendo and there exclusives. Its why i own a switch along with my ps4. Microsoft on the other hand is the worst offender!
Nintendo has a history of continuing to charge full price for even much of its older lineup, until such time as they decide to add said title to their "Selects" line, and even then they remain at a steady $19.99USD/$29.99CAD, and not all of their first party titles get that treatment (which is great if you feel like paying full price for a game that's several years old). So...charging full price for a remaster of two games from last gen is an improvement by comparison, I guess. At least there are two games here, and there's the whole remastering and adding a new character bit. I wouldn't say the cost of admission is ideal though. At least Sony and MS know what older games are worth. I love Nintendo, but all three companies have practices that aren't the greatest and first party pricing is one of theirs.
Yeah they also have a history of a budget range
Well a lot of work went into the creation of this game that happened to release on a failed platform never reaching the majority of the Nintendo fan base. So in essence it’s a new game to most and I don’t have a problem with it. With that being said I’ll catch it on a sale a little later.
It hurts me to say but I believe it. Nintendo needs to get up to the times or go away. The treatmeant Of their customers is pathetic. The value we get from other video gaming companies, not just in the types of games and services but little things even like sales on psn and Xbox live vs the sales on Nintendo eshop. Nintendo’s products and services are horribly lacking in value compared to their competitors. Sorry.
This equivalent package was $80 at launch, $60 for the base game, $20 for the Luigi U DLC. At the time, the quality and quantity of the DLC was greeted with praise and "DLC done right" comments. Keep that in mind. $50 might have been a good spot, but many would still prefer at $40(everyone likes cheaper games, right), which would sell many more games. Fact is, if people don't buy it, they will eventually reduce the price. If people buy it, then there was demand at that price. Stop taking things so personally and reacting, just don't buy it or wait for a sale(yes they do happen). If you haven't played it, there is plenty of content. If you already have, stop complaining, you are done. One last thing. You do not have to play games at launch, nor do you have to buy them at launch and have this massive backlog. It's not cool or practical to have a massive backlog of games. Keep your backlog unpurchased until you are ready to play. Stop thinking you do because of social media, youtube, or whatever, game at your pace(play them again, even, and you will never experience a drought, have more money, and enjoy your games more.
It should have been free to play. Honestly at this point I’m done with this website some seriously decided people want everything for nothing happy to pay top whack for garbage from Microsoft but quality games from Nintendo nah they should be a tenner cos they came out 7-8 years ago. Microsoft would charge full price. Bored, back to gaming gold.
