Don't click the click-bait no matter who is your favorite franchise or console. I'm a PC gamer but my little daughter has this game and it has brought so much fun to all in the house taking turn's to see how far we get in a game. Some epic moments and laughs. That's what it's all about having fun. 47 out of 100 just reminds me of scrooge or the grinch who reviewed and played it.

Even at half the orignal price, you are looking at $40, but originally this was an $80 game. Remember that Luigi U was a $20 dlc package for the game and was considered a generous DLC at the time. Agreed it is priced a little too high, but not outrageously.

Insane review. Its highly polished. I am loving it and died multiple times by falling. It can get tricky. Bosses are easy though. The platforming can get hard. Sure it's a been there done that game, but it's fun. If you have a Wii u , highly recommend u buy that version and save money. But for anyone else, it's fun. A 7/10. This guys review is ridiculous. Hes scoring it on what he feels it should have been instead of the quality of the game. Very biased unprofessional review.

Yeah, a bit easy and the artstyle is really showing its age in some worlds, but overall the game is solid. $60 for the port is a bit much considering it's been available cheaper on Wii U for a long time . . . but you do get a lot of content for the price, so it's not awful. If they'd launched the game at $40 I imagine there would be a lot more excitement for it around the gaming media, but the fact of the matter is the general public will probably buy it whether it's $40 or $60, due to the name.

It is what it is, I suppose. I beat it on Wii U and so I'll avoid for now. May pick it up for some multiplayer fun at some point.

EDIT: The Luigi levels are where this game really shines for single-player. Short and sweet and they seem to be designed around single-player play.

Personally I'd like to see the next 2D Mario feature branching paths in the overworld, featuring levels requiring multiplayer and other levels single-player only. With branching paths you could make it to the end playing alone or with friends no issue. Maybe there could even be an alternate single-player final boss? Either way it would open up a lot of options. Tighter, more difficult level design for single-player levels and multiplayer levels that require players to work together.

I'm sorry, I love Nintendo's games, but far too often they seem to get a free pass on their insane greed, and this is surely one example where they've taken it too far...

Not saying the game deserves a 4.7/10, when you judge it on it's gaming merits alone, but if you take into account its age and Nintendo's pricing, as well as much better games in the platforming genre that have come out in recent years, which look and play better and also offer better value for money, it's kinda hard to push this game for 60 bucks...

I mean, most AAA games don't offer the same quality or amount of content that Hollow Knight does. If you use indie games as the value comparison for other games then nearly all $60 games lose out to Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Stardew Valley, Celeste, Dead Cells, etc . . .

Sure I dont think it deserves a score like this but I dont understand why people are really defending the game. The nsmb games are pretty bad and just so boring compared the classics. Ive tried enjoying the 3ds and wii u games but I just cant keep myself playing after only about a couple levels. Mario games in general have been trash and are just casual friendly games nowadays. I miss the story and in deph focused ones like thousand year door, rpg, and sunshine. And great platformers like 64 and super mario world. Odyssey is just for casuals/speedrunners, nothing special to it but collecting stars in boring levels, cant keep myself playing after 10 minutes every time I keep going back to it. Galaxy is just a bunch of levels with spheres you go on. Mario kart has been bad after double dash. Mario parties have been terrible since the gamecube game. All mario games have just been short-developed, casual, arcadey experiences for years now. Seriously, I dont get why the postivity and high/perfect scores in these newer mario games lol. Havent loved a mario game in years.

Only one I thought was nice was probably mario maker which hopefully one is made for the switch

I paid £37 for it, so a little less that your average new release. I didn't mind as I adore Mario and love platformers in general but I can totally see why some of the commenters above are taking issue with Nintendo and their pricing strategies.

There is absolutely no doubt that Nintendo rip off their fanbase, whether it's the Pro Controller or any other peripherals, remastered games or the cost of their games which stubbornly remain at full RRP for years, I always feel sore about Nintendo wringing out my pockets. Having said that, generally speaking, Nintendo games are bloody brilliant so that does take the sting out of purchasing their games to some degree.

I have no regrets buying this game despite owning in on my WiiU, I really enjoyed it back then and I am enjoying it this time around too.

Xbox Live has charged £40/50 a year for 15 years Nintendo charged nothing. Now they do it works out about £1,50 a month no more than £18 a year their pro controller is a beast and its priced the same as dual shock 4s or Xbox controllers except the elite controller which is double the price but Nintendo are rip offs I suppose that’s why their classics consoles were £50/70 with 30/20 games yet Sony’s was £90 with 20 pretty dire games (ok 5/6 were good) Nintendo games hold their price as they aren’t old news within a year like Fifa cod of forza your yearly churn stuff they get voted in the greatest games of all times lists repeatedly great games hold their prices look at GTA5 sure it’s cheaper now, now that it’s sold 100 million copies until then tho it’s still been full retail price except for retailer discounts.
Nintendo launched GameCube for £130!! And their games for 3ds Wii/ Wii u were all £39.99 brand new when others were trying £49.99/59.99 (Microsoft) but yeah Nintendo the greedy ones. 🧐

If you think Nintendo rinse your wallet buy an Xbox. £399 console sure most powerful (no games tho) £50 for Xbox live and another £50-130 for a spare controller £500+ to play yearly churns like Fifa and COD. Yeah I’ll happily spend my money with Nintendo and Sony ;) plus i only paid £17 (used up my reward points/compo for them sending me lets go late ;)

You can argue about the price of the game all you want... but this score is purely a troll. New Super Mario Bros U is easily the best in the New Super Mario series, and this also has New Super Luigi U, which was well received too. This score is stupid as hell.
