The UK Games Industry in 2018: Winners and Losers

Last year was a mixed 12 months for the UK boxed games market. Revenue from boxed software fell 2.8 per cent year-on-year, which is a modest fall and primarily driven by underperforming AAA games. The actual number of physical games dropped 7.1 per cent.
However, console sales rose slightly, and there were three games released that sold over one million units in physical form.

How's this for Game Pass not putting a dent Forza Horizon 4 sales, at least not in the UK: it sold only 6500 units less than God of War despite the latter being out 6 months longer AND on a platform with majority marketshare and the former being free to download day one on GP.

I suppose being a UK based game did count a lot in its favour in this region.

Suprised God of War didn't sell more. It deserves it a heck of alot more than Spider-Man in my opinion. Then again I finished GoW and I'm only 30% through Spider-Man so my tune might change as I progress.

The explanation is fairly simple. UK and Irish gamers love racing games (both sim and arcade) WAY more than other regions.
