Everyone loves a blockbuster AAA title that impresses with its large scope, expensive production costs, and pretty visuals, but they often take away the spotlight from the more artistic side of the industry AKA the indie scene, whose releases often trickle by unnoticed by the masses. So with this article, we’d like to address 7 upcoming indie games that piqued our interest.
GB: "Want to showcase the power of the Xbox Series X? Here are the best games to show of Microsoft's most powerful console."
Dive into the best Metroidvania games on Steam, from hidden gems to top-rated classics, and embark on unforgettable adventures!
Good list, and kudos to having a list-article where everything is listed on 1 page.
Nine Sols looks nice, and also a bit similar in style to Bo, Path of the Teal Lotus, which should also be a good game (picked it up a few weeks ago but haven't played it myself yet ... )
The Ori and the Blind Forest studio CEO has asked the fans to purchase the game instead to completely support it.
I bought Ori for Switch because it's on GP and wanted to be able to play it on the go. That being said, at 120fps and 4K on Series X, that is the way to play.
Anyone who wanted Ori has most likely already bought it. The game is not going to sell significantly anymore but GP will offer free exposure so that when Ori 3 comes out people may be willing to buy. If your game is good enough people will support in even if they can get it on a subscription. I still buy plenty of games that are available on GP and I also have played plenty of games that I would not have played thanks to GP. Bottom line is this, make a product people want and they will buy it.
Terrible list.
Some of my hotly anticipated indies that are notably absent.
1. Sea of Solitude - could be the next Unravel or Little Nightmares.
2. Eitr - pixel art Dark Souls. Isometric. Will it ever come?
3. Vane - Journey meets Fe?
4. Children of Morta - co op, pixel art adventure. Looks like Eitr, but less Dark Souls.
5. Spelunky 2 - Spelunky...but 2!
6. Pathless -Horizon meets Journey. Giant Squid (ABZU) bring forth a beautiful adventure as a hunter and her bird attempt to cleanse a corrupted land by taking down possessed animals with wits and a bow.
7. Feudal Alloy - wonderful art and humor. A robotic hack n slash adventure with towering bosses.
I was tempted to add Sable based on art alone, but the animations are horrendous and it just looks empty. Like it's trying to hit that Journey vibe, but it may backfire. Journey meets No Man's Sky?
I'm really interested in The Last Campfire from Hello Games.
This is more like a random promotion of some good indie game. The popularity of indie games are difficult to measure so we cannot be so sure that these are the 'most anticipated' indie games. Still any form of promotion of indie games are welcome.
