I enjoyed Hollow Knight more when I cheated

Beautiful game worlds can have frustrating levels of challenge and sometimes you have to use a cheat to push past that

Hollow Knight is the best indie game that I ever played, and I do understand the bosses frustration. However, you do feel great when you beat the boss on your own, without cheets and all. Fantastic game either way.

I gave up on Celeste because it is all about jumping. I activated God mode or what's it's called...and seen the level...I really don't know how is this game played on switch without braking it.

If you don't realize that a good many of us will get stopped cold by such huge difficulty spikes, then you don't really understand the frustration. I've moved on after many demoralizing attempts at one particular boss and its too-long preceding gauntlet. (If I could at least save right before the big fight, then maybe I would have eventually prevailed.)

I didn't know there was a way to cheat your way past these joy blockers. Invincibility mod? I need to check that out. If it can be toggled on and off at will (used only when essential), it may be just the ticket to get me back into the game.

Yes, I do. I gave up on Celeste. Indie game of the year, the best thing that happened to gaming since dual analog sticks. I don't get it. Hollow Knight I see the patterns.

yup, hollowknight one of top 5 indy games of all time and i mean all time... i just wish it could have been just a bit more easy, those dlcs were insanely hard for me and also that trial thing, rank 3.

Don't bother with the dlc bosses. They are not worth the patience. And they don't add anything to the story. Just wait for Hornet dlc.

Hollow Knight was so good. You have to like the challenge of a difficult game though.

Makes sense. I personally stopped cheating at games many years ago as I came to the realization that I only cheated because there were certain games I couldn't beat otherwise, and that just didn't sit well with me. So, I decided to just get better so that I could beat games legit and I have since had a lot more fun with games. I don't need to seek out a challenge to get fulfillment, but I love the sense of accomplishment I feel when I do overcome a frustrating stage or boss, among other things. I don't judge those who cheat to get through games though as that was me at one point. Granted, I was a lot younger then, but that's not the point.

This is clearly one such title that was built on the nostalgia of hard games mind you, so it was never intended for absolutely everyone and instead is made to appeal to a select audience who wants that in a game. As such I don't think it makes a lot of sense to knock it for being what it is when there are plenty of other titles out there for those who are turned off by large difficulty spikes and challenging bosses. That's kind of like complaining that FPS are too much about shooting stuff with guns. Clearly this game isn't for you(or at least playing it as the devs intended), and that's ok, as the beauty is that there are plenty of games out there for all types of gamers. At least you gave it a try and now know a little more about what works for you and what doesn't.

Being a middling gamer, I've often attempted various missions/bosses dozens of times before beating outright or finally learning the pattern that I figure most got after 5 attempts, then there are times i get so frustrated and lose enjoyment of gaming period and rage quit and go clean the house or play basketball.

When I resort to watching the level on YouTube to figure it out I have a small sense of humiliation and that also brings the fun level down. I don't often have much of a sense of accomplishment after beating a difficult session, I often just think how the dev just wasted my time.

In the end I won't buy games that have crappy hard areas I can't beat, so the dev will lose my money. I'm sure the real gamers like the challenge and so as long as they buy the game it will keep that idea going and the dev can profit.

I would like to see devs have reduced settings option after 20 tries at something. It's also cool to know they have planned that far ahead and are still with you that deep into the ai and code.
