That better come with a 'no-lose' guarantee or something in writing.

Alexious2376d ago

The price is "a little" excessive, yes. Unsurprising with Razer though.

Phil is going to be disappointed. It does look like a nice combo, but yes, too expensive.

BoneMagnus2376d ago

Don’t know that it’s worth it this late in the gen - maybe if it will work with the next gen hardware, but how could you get that guaranteed?

LandoCalrissiano2376d ago

Guarantee? Never. Extremely likely? Of course. MS are doing everything for the future and to release a new console without the same software capabilities would be a lot of wasted work.

letsa_go2376d ago

Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft all did that this gen....so what makes you think that won't happen again next gen?

rainslacker2376d ago

Can't remember what it was in reference to, but MS pretty much said that peripherals would be forward compatible with new hardware going forward. This was part of their change in how they view consoles, and not having traditional generations.

DaDrunkenJester2376d ago

Or you could buy any other high quality keyboard and mouse for like $100 and then put the rest into more games or a years worth of GamePass

Alexious2376d ago

Agreed, that's what I would do as well.

rainslacker2376d ago

No doubt. I have a gaming mouse which cost me about $80, and it's great. My keyboard is a $50 one, I picked it after a lot of research, because I use it for regular work, but it's a gaming keyboard, and it's excellent. A $250 keyboard and mouse aren't going to make you a better gamer....especially a keyboard.

I've used keyboards like this one, and I actually find the way they don't have physical spacers between the buttons actually makes it harder to use for gaming, as it makes it too easy to hit keys you don't mean to.

Razer makes good stuff, don't get me wrong, but they're overcharging here IMO. Even a full bells and whistles highly rated gaming keyboard is usually less than $100. A really good gaming mouse can be had for $50-100 depending on how many buttons you want...handy for MMO's sometimes, but most gaming mice have more than sufficient dpi for precision gaming, especially since no game polls mouse movement enough to make those high DPI's necessary.

Oh well. Razer, and officially branded, means premium price.

Kados2376d ago (Edited 2376d ago )

You won't be getting even a half decent mechanical keyboard + mouse for $100. That will get you a mid range mouse and a typical form over function "gaming" grade membrane board. $250 is about right for a good mech set. I do not consider Razer to be good though, so still hard pass.

I'll wait for someone to release an adapter then use my G903 + K-type.

Elwenil2375d ago

But the Turret is not mechanical, it's just a wireless keyboard with a mouse pad attached to the side. Even for Razer, this is way overpriced. A better solution, in my opinion, would be the Corsair K63 wireless mechanical keyboard and lapboard combo for around $150, and then just pick up a decent wireless mouse. I'm not sure it's even worth buying a "gaming mouse" since I haven't actually seen where the consoles will support the extra mouse buttons. Since you can't install the software that typically comes with gaming peripherals to setup custom profiles, I am guessing there isn't much point to an expensive mouse unless you just want to use one mouse for PC and console.

Kados2375d ago (Edited 2375d ago )

Most high end rats do not actually need the software, beyond initial profile setup. They have on-board memory for storing profiles. Just plug it into a PC and configure it how you want, store the profile to the on-board memory, then connect it to the console. As long as the console is able to recognize the signals for the specific actions, it should work. The macro'd mouse buttons would just be detected as keyboard inputs.

Edit: Just checked the Razer site, it is a mech.

Elwenil2375d ago

@ Kados,

It must just be the Xbox version that is mechanical because the normal Turret keyboard is not mechanical.

Razer Turret for Xbox One Review

Neil writes: "The addition of the Razer Turret for Xbox One is perhaps the best temptation for any PC gamer wishing to cross the divide and come to the land of console gaming. After all, Razer owns the PC space, and that surely means they own the Xbox keyboard and mouse landscape too then?"

Looks nice. Price is a bit steep for me at the moment. Wait for a big price drop before i bite.

slate912273d ago

Hopefully the games that support m&kb on xbox grows to justify a $250 price tag

Razzer2273d ago

Doesn't look like the real estate for the mouse is large enough.

blacktiger2273d ago

the word real estate just broke comment of the year!

Tankbusta402273d ago

250 bucks for a mouse and keyboard????

sergons2273d ago

razer...overpriced piece of crap with average lifespan of three months.

Razzer2273d ago

Well....the keyboard is mechanical so automatically more expensive. But yeah.....still way too much. But they got that Xbox endorsement to pay for so...

Current games confirmed to support mouse and keyboard thus far.
"X-Morph: Defense, Vermintide 2, Gears of War 5, Gears Tactics, Day Z, Deep Rock Galactic, Children of Morta, Moonlighter, Roblox (platform), Strange Brigade and Vigor, all gaming experiences announcing support for keyboard and mouse well as for Xbox Dynamic Lighting.

Fortnite, Warframe, War Thunder, Sims, Minecraft, Surviving Mars, Minion Masters, Warface, Wargroove, Bomber Crew, PUBG, all games announcing support for keyboard and mouse."

darthv722356d ago

it would be nice if they add support to halo wars 2.

lxeasy2356d ago

That wouldn't surprise me if they do. Personally I want Xcom support.

slate912356d ago

To drop that kind of money, I would want all my games be m&kb compatible.

GtPawnSacrifices2356d ago

That’s just for the Razor set up. Pretty sure any cabled M&Kb will work too.
But as above, I too would be interested in Halo Wars 2 with M&Kb support.

_LarZen_2356d ago

That's what a premium mouse and keyboard costs these days. But as mentioned you can buy allot cheaper solutions. But often you get what you pay for...
