DICE Backtracks on Battlefield V Time to Kill Changes Following Players’ Outrage

EA DICE is doing a full 180 degrees turn on the Battlefield V Time To Kill changes implemented a week ago, effective tomorrow on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

PeaSFor2380d ago

It's like DICE/EA was a kid who smeared some pasta onto walls, ate them up and awaiting for parents' applause.

Btw lol at fools who literally have Stockholm Syndrome and will praise DICE for anything, including reverting the game back to the state that we paid money for.

2pacalypsenow2381d ago (Edited 2381d ago )

"It’s important to acknowledge that we have a challenge bringing new players into Battlefield V and onboard them to become more experienced Battlefield players. "

So they dumbed down the game for new players?

Also could someone explain what (Time To Kill) is? Is it a game mode, or how long it takes to kill someone?

Abriael2381d ago

how long it takes to kill someone. Basically, they made it longer so that new players wouldn't die so quickly.

2pacalypsenow2381d ago (Edited 2381d ago )

Ohhh, gotcha.

I snipe so it's always a 2 shot kill unless it's a headshot, so I never noticed.

PapaBop2380d ago (Edited 2380d ago )

Please tell me Battlefield hasn't turned into Battlefront 2 where the progression system is clearly designed around giving those who play the game a distinctive advantage over new players? Hopefully you mean new players who treat Battlefield like the mindless shooters they're used to and are dying quickly because they're playing stupid.

sbprost2380d ago

@PapaBop The starting weapons are every bit as powerful as late game weapons. The only big difference would be in tanks and planes. They get a huge increase in utility as you level them up and unlock new specializations.

Majin-vegeta2380d ago

Yea for a week but as of today the TTK is going back to how it was.iin other words the game is how it was at launch.no more spongy enemies

veicht2380d ago

Older battlefield games had longer time to kill (and in general I tend to find longer time to kill games favoring the more skilled, not universally of course), so no I wouldn't say they dumbed it down. But yes, the change was made with the stated purpose of aiding the new player experience.

CorndogBurglar2380d ago

Did they? Battlefield 2 and 2142 had pretty quick TTK.

andibandit2379d ago

Yeah, but I get their point. I would introduce my wife to the game, but I know she would hate it after a day of just constantly dying, so theres no point in bothering.

The shitshow surrounding this game is more entertaining than the game itself!

UltraNova2380d ago (Edited 2380d ago )

As someone who spend hundreds of hours on BF1 alone I have to admit you are correct...I stayed away from BFV, reluctantly might I add, but the more time goes by the worse it gets so no harm done in my case. Like I said I'll wait for the sequel, hopefully it will be set in modern setting.

boing12380d ago

Idk, man. For me V already plays much better than BF1 ever did.

KillaJamm2380d ago

I held off as well as someone who played loads of BF1 and 4, got sucked into all the bad publicity and thought ill wait for a price drop, well I got it dirt cheap on black friday and tbh its the best battlefield game this gen imo, and i LOVED bf1. Its alot 'grittier' then the trailers lead you to believe and feels great to play as battlefield always has, I just think whoever handled their PR had a nightmare and nearly buried it before release, but if your a long time fan of the series like i am your deffo missing out so if you see a deal i think its worth a punt.

UltraNova2379d ago

Boing nad Killa,

Now you all made me feel bad...

Unfortunately it has to wait since I'm already struggling to find time playing Blackout and RDR2 (both SP and MP)...

zackeroniii2380d ago

indeed it is! what a colossal, humongous, elephantine, brobdingnagian flop this game is! surely is entertaining!

boing12379d ago

You haven't played it, hm?

Rikimaru19772380d ago

i'm glad i didn't purchase this game. Hopefully they learn from this and make the next BF better.

JEECE2380d ago

Maybe you are referring to other issues, but this article is about DICE responding to player feedback and making changes. I know EA=bad, but other than that I'm lost as to how being responsive like this is bad.

BoneMagnus2380d ago

I agree - in this particular instance, they made a change; it didn’t work, so they changed it back. No harm, no foul.

They can’t afford to not be responsive with all the drama around this game. I still can’t believe they didn’t learn their lesson after the Battlefront fiasco.

My hope is the BFV, like Battlefront 2, will eventually become a good online shooter.

More broken and monetised games

indysurfn2065d ago

Hmmmm let me make this a little more honest...: EA teases unknown Micro transactions! Really!, it is literally unknown Micro transactions. They will say they have no "plans" for MT's then release MTs after people start playing it. So they are unknown (to the player that is).

RacerX2065d ago

M... T... SPORTS.... It's in the game (behind a pay wall)

UltraNova2064d ago

Activision beat them to it, EA gotta step it up now...

VenomUK2064d ago

A remastered Mass Effect collection in 4k in time for next-gen would be a nice gifrt to the fans waiting for Mass Effect 4, and I believe it would sell very well.

Limitedtimestruggle2065d ago

I am all for another Battlefield in a few years time. DICE obviously needs their time to avoid another Battlefield V horror release.

execution172065d ago

They should just let LA Dice hire more people and let them work on a Battlefield or another Medal of Honor

anonymousfan2065d ago

A return to bad company would be nice

annoyedgamer2065d ago

Why does everybody blame the developers when its clearly EA that is at fault?

2065d ago
UltraNova2064d ago

Yeah they'll probably do an a female lead, MT filled Bad Company game next.

criticalkare2065d ago

New project at bioware...

Thats scaring me right there....

2065d ago
anonymousfan2065d ago

Hard to believe that studio was responsible for the Mass Effect trilogy. Just a shadow of it's former self. I am somewhat relieved EA didn't shut them down yet... They produced only disasters this gen except for inquisition. Still hoping they will turn that sinking ship around!

TheColbertinator2065d ago

Bioware needs some life support.

DrShoe2064d ago

Someone needs to keep them off the soy

SprigganN4G2065d ago

So next BF will be 100% next gen. Nice! Wanna see a big leap

EA’s E3 2019 press conference - More of what you expect, yet still underwhelming

"EA's E3 2019 press conference is over, and I honestly feel bad the people who hosted this presentation...And I feel equally bad for those who watched the show on site and from the comfort of their homes, and this is the reason why." - Justin Easler, TGG.

SegaGamer2207d ago

Battlefield, FIFA and Madden, these 3 games are at every E3. It's hard to stay interested when we see the same thing every year.

TGG_overlord2207d ago

Yes indeed...And no new IP's whatsoever.

Just something in between really :P

DillyDilly2223d ago (Edited 2223d ago )

I have decided on complete cynicism in all forms of media / entertainment. With so much going the subvert expectations route or so much just sucking I dont really care anymore & Im gonna be extremely cautious & cynical about everything from here on out

jznrpg2223d ago (Edited 2223d ago )

Wait and see for yourself
