Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold 1,220,535 retail units during its opening week in Japan, the latest Media Create sales figures reveal.
Also new last week, the PlayStation 4 version of Just Cause 4 opened at 16,100 retail units, and Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle opened at 7,318 units on PlayStation 4 and 5,903 units on Switch.
On the hardware side, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate pushed Switch hardware sales to 281,222 (compared to the previous week’s 120,546), while the PlayStation 4 family moved 74,496 units and the 3DS family moved 14,272 units.
With Nintendo rolling out Switch 2, the company has confirmed that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Nintendo Switch Sports have issues on the new console. However, plans are already in place for patches.

Nintendo literally "smashed" the competition. Over 1.2 million copies of Smash in one week. 280k Switches sold making it almost 500k in the past 3 weeks alone. PS4 actually did really well too, 75k is no slouch of a sales number.
13 of the 20 titles in the list belong to the Switch, including the top 6 spots. Almost every title that charted for Nintendo was an exclusive too.
