Bethesda Offering 500 Atoms as an Apology for Fallout 76 Bag Controversy

Bethesda is offering 500 Atoms (in-game currency) for Fallout 76''s Power Armor edition bag controversy.

WANNAGETHIGH1973d ago

Well it’s a start to at least redeeming themselves for people who still have faith for this game. As for me, am just waiting for RDR2 online to realese.

lellkay1973d ago

It's not even a start. It's an insult.

UltraNova1973d ago

They lied about the game, they lied about the special edition's contents, they refuse to refund their customers... there's no redemption here, Bethesda is unforgivable.

Dabigsiebowski1973d ago

They are giving you 500 atoms that you can use on the game. Microtransactions freaking suck. So now every developer has a reason to screw up and say "here, have these coins you can used on our half baked store that will be meaningless in a few weeks or months to ya!

Could have used that nice bag..

Palitera1973d ago

Also, as Jim Sterling correctly called, Bethesda, with this fake apology, is trying to put people into the microtransactions currency routine and actually make even more money out of the controversy.

One of the biggest challenge for microtransactions is to convert non payers to payers. Giving a little bit of currency is a well known, tried and true tactic aiming for it.

BTW, 500 fake coins can buy a door and some flowers on the game. :D

nucky641973d ago

i've been playing rdr2 online - and i'm liking it a lot!

Its $5 worth of in-game currency. Its not a start, its a middle finger.

Godmars2901973d ago

@Zabatsu2:
At least with NMS the BS was only limited to the game and the devs showed signs of realizing they'd over promised.

Here's, its coming off as if Bethesda intentionally implemented layers of BS in the marketing. From initial announces based on their reputation - through really, given actual rep, that should have been a red flag and is on the community - to this literal bait and switch with the bag.

MeteorPanda1973d ago

500 atoms = 5$ dollars..

you can't even buy the canvas bag in game as thats 2k to give you an idea. you can buy a door and some flowers. thats it.

That's a disgrace, instead of sending a real life quality item, they want to give fake digital money that can ONLY be used on their piece of S**T game AND on top of that only the equivalent of $5 which gets you A** in the game, basically a reskin of something.

Hopefully they lose tens of millions of $ in this game.

WANNAGETHIGH1973d ago

Lol... well I guess the overwhelming majority disagrees with me 😂

InTheZoneAC1973d ago

Sorry you spent $200 on what amounts to $35 worth of items (game included), here's $5 for a generic sticker in this game. This has lawsuit written all over. The audacity to actually go with a cheap wrinkled nylon bag that costs $0.50 to make and to say the original bag was too expensive or they ran out of materials is such b.s. Bethesda can disappear with Take 2, EA and Activision.

spicelicka1973d ago

Don't forget not even real $5, $5 of in game currency...

Blizzard must be having a sigh of relief that their controversy will now be overshadowed.

Cmv381973d ago

To be fair, blizzard controversy started to blow over when they started talking patch 2.6.4 and season 16. But this is far worse than the blizzard fiasco. This fallout 76 crap has pretty much overshadowed all gaming blunders for the year. And they deserve every negative action.

Soc51973d ago

LOL Blizzard is sending them thank you cards!

dumahim1973d ago

Wait, you didn't hear about the worldwide shortage of cotton? Oh, it's a huge problem. I'm shocked people aren't more sympathetic to Bethesda's plight. Their hands were tied!

(to those that don't get it, in case you can't tell, I was being sarcastic)

GamerFrank851973d ago (Edited 1973d ago )

Worst dev around. Been saying it for years. Incomplete buggy messes... there is never any in house beta testing for bugs. Every game they make is a disaster waiting to happen. Its frankly Embarrassing and a out of touch pr department. Anything else?

eddvdm1973d ago

Totally agree, and they are SO GREEDY, even with all that you just said.

Here in Brazil almost every AAA publisher does that Steam-compensation for local currency (I'm not judging its merit, if it's fair, not that) since launch - Bethesda is the only one charging full 100% conversion at the game's launch.

And, let's be honest, after Fallout 3/Skyrim games, Bethesda knows their games will be properly fixed by the mod community.

Let's not forget the dreaded CREATION CLUB (I guess that's its name?), which was created to start charging for MODS! Which were stolen directly from Nexus, lots of creators at the time said their mods were put there without their consent, and guess if Bethesda did anything about it, after reported?

Bethesda is just a nasty nasty company.

sevilha821973d ago

i think you pretty much nailed it.

GoGoGadge71973d ago

You know what... I feel bad for everyone who got ripped off. I do. And even I who bought this game am pissed.

However... If you spent 200+ and got ripped off on a collectible bag..... you've got bigger issues than this bag. Maybe its a sign to spend your money a little more wisely.

monkey6021973d ago

Its a grim way of looking at it but I agree too. People are all too willing to throw money at cheap tat as long as it has Collectors or Special plastered on it.

Let them spend their money on whatever they want I guess, it doesn't effect me but I just don't understand it

xX-oldboy-Xx1973d ago

Why? People love Bethesda games, not me personally - I'm very vocal in my distaste for them and what they stand for. They're one of the worst devs out there, this just proves there even worse than most people thought.

sevilha821973d ago

yeah i see your point, problem here is....that because most people don´t think with their wallets companies use and abuse of the situation ,that´s why the industry is at this lousy greedy mess.
I find myself buyng less and less games every year because i trust so very little studios.

Sgt_Slaughter1973d ago

That's the worst logic for this ever. It completely ignores the point, just so you can pass your opinion on the subject instead of focusing on the problem. A consumer used their own money to purchase a product, and the company mislead/falsely advertised it. Plain as day a problem and illegal, regardless of what industry it is in. A $200 special edition might be worth $300-500+ down the road, so it's also an investment of sorts, too, so your $200 should have everything inside of it be what is promised.

monkey6021972d ago

Nobody is going to deny that side of it. Of course not. These collectors editions are mass produced now so they're not going to be worth anything in years to come. Those days are gone. The materials used in these collections are always the cheapest that can be found and aren't even remotely close to being valuable.

Go get an F4F production if you want a collectors item or something

MadLad1973d ago

Here's some game credits for the broken game we sold you at retail price, since we lied to you about the contents of the version you paid even more for.

Seems legit.

Missing a lootable item was part of the game. Random and chance helped make Fallout so much fun and interesting. This just makes it lazy and disconnected to the simulated events. An interesting feature, but Where are all these veterans that agree so hard?

gigoran81d 3h ago

I'm a fallout veteran since the release of the original, and I don't agree.
