Its just a take off of the phrase "any press is good press" the problem is thats no longer the case with regards to video game reviews. Awful reviews can kill a game before its even released.
I get the point he's trying to make, but realistically, a dev should strive to always release the best product they can. If they can release it and be confident in their work, then the reviews shouldn't affect them.
I think what he's trying to say is he would rather people say that they think his game is bad rather than get ignored completely. Use that criticism to be better.
What I got from "I'd rather have bad reviews than no reviews" was "I rather take the feedback in order to improve than not know what I did so wrong" am I wrong with this? That's what I got from that idk how people got that he likes bad reviews
i think what he means is that he doesn't want his games to be ignored. why make a game if there is nobody there to play it?...
since some people didn't bother to read what he said, here is the excerpt from the articles where the quote was taken from...
"It's hard to get people's eyes on stuff. We got a mailing list for magazines and websites, because we wanted to get some reviews. I just want someone to look at the game... good or bad, I'd rather have bad reviews than no reviews."
Looks like he's having a bad fur day

So you're OK making a terrible games?
Yeah I mean screw the customer who paid money for a bad game, as long as your content right Chris?
