“It's probably too late for the Xbox One to ever shed its public perceptions of having too few exclusives, but X018 showed that the future is bright.” It’s not just about how many exclusives you have it’s about how good they are. That will paint the true picture. Most of the studios Microsoft purchased aside from Playground Games haven’t put out stellar games. We shall see what happens next generation.
Dude Playground Games is not the only studio they purchased that has put out stellar games. Ninja Theory HellBlade is absoloutely stellar. Obsidian has also released really impressive games in the past as well. Some of you try so hard its sad
@skull521 If everyone likes Sony exclusives, and you don't, that doesn't mean it's overrated. It just means you have an unpopular opinion.
The mentality of a fan boy. Statement of fact. Many on the internet like PS and Sony's games. Logical conclusion(in the mind of a fan boy), entire internet is infested with Sony bias. Bias is based on absolutely nothing but blind loyalty which is somehow undeserved. Illogical conclusion: Sony hasn't spent the time and effort to build that loyalty from its fans, and hasn't delivered on quality games. Logical conclusions: I don't like something, so everyone else is wrong, and Sony bias causes reviews to be inflated. Illogical conclusion: Those games are good, hence they have high reviews.
You can disagree with the Sony bias all you want but the disagrees you'll see on that comment tell a different story.
Skull521, "You can disagree with the Sony bias all you want but the disagrees you'll see on that comment tell a different story." I'm pretty sure that means you have an unpopular opinion. bluefox755 is correct. The disagrees you receive are probably from people who disagree with your opinion. Is this difficult to grasp? Shouldn't be, considering you just called The Last of Us underrated. It's just a very well loved game. Just because you're unable to see a game's value based on the platform it's on doesn't mean your opinion is worth more. I don't see the appeal of Halo at all and think it's highly overrated, but I'm not about to suggest the positive reception from games is inflated.
@ Skull: Oh no, people disagree with you. How will the world go on? /s You don't have a popular opinion and you're wrong about Sony exclusives. Sony exclusives are amazing games and they sell well. Don't get mad at Sony because Microsoft has yet to follow through on real exclusives.
@Ixeasy - was thinking the same thing, Playground Games is a great acquisition but Obsidian deserves to be held up in the same high regard. Ninja Theory have shown their potential with HellBlade but I'm still bitter with DmC and Donte but looking forward to seeing with what they do in the future. @Skull521 - Sony earned their bias by knowing their audience and consistently delivering in what they want. Microsoft lost a lot of their support due to them chasing the Wii crowd and putting too many of their eggs into their Kinect basket. They seem to be making all the right moves now though so things will improve but the Sony bias if you want to call it that is completely deserved.
@skull Sony exclusive reviews are not inflated. It takes an idiot to not acknowledge that since it's inception the PlayStation brand has consistently delivered system selling exclusives. Nintendo has done the same. Xbox has had some great exclusive games along the way, but never been consistent enough to even have mascots for the brand. Now anything they do have is playable on PC making it even less enticing to grab one. Anyone defending the Xbox brand likely grew up with Xbox or switched to the 360 from the PS2 because it was significantly cheaper than the PS3 (from the people I know personally anyways), and now have become subjectively biased. Some people may just prefer the OS and Xbox live I guess, but to consider the brand up to par with playstation or Nintendo objectively is just a complete joke..
The fear is real for next-gen.
@hench07 “The fear is real for next-gen.” PS4 will have 100 million users which could possibly move to PS5. Xbox One will have 50 million users of which could move to Scarlett. Sony Worldwide Studios put out much better games that are highly praised. PlayStation fans have nothing to worry about. Period. Sorry but the only fear is from Xbox fans and it’s showing. You guys have been saying these kind of things all generation and nothings changed. PlayStation is still dominating.
Sony also had like 160 million PS2 users, and PS3 only had 80 million. If you think people won't jump ship you're crazy.
@Skull 160m Ps2's mainly due to its price being the cheapest DVD player on the market. Let alone the plethera of games for the system.
Fear of what? That Sony won't deliver on games? I'm not afraid of that. Whatever MS does won't matter to me one bit, because I'm not giving them my money again until they prove that they're worth my time. On the plus side, I probably won't spend as much time talking about them, because I won't have invested in their system next gen. This article says that the future is bright for MS this generation, and it really isn't. It's also been a pitiful generation for MS, and despite them doing some good stuff, and setting themselves up for the future, they haven't proven that they are worth investing in.
@lxeasy “Dude Playground Games is not the only studio they purchased that has put out stellar games. Ninja Theory HellBlade is absoloutely stellar. Obsidian has also released really impressive games in the past as well.” I said most not all. Playground Games and Ninja Theory being exceptions. “Some of you try so hard its sad” I’m pretty sure it’s Microsoft that are chasing Sony and PlayStation. Hence the reason they’re buying first party studios. Seems like you are the ones trying so hard.
You're reading for the filth!! Though you speak the truth & sometimes for some the truth hurts.
What's funny is i remember when Hellblade was exclusively on PS4, Xbox fans downplayed it, saying "oh look, another PS4 8 hour walking simulator." Now that it's on X1 and Ninja Theory is an Xbox 1st party studio, it's a AAA masterpiece and Ninja Theory is the next Naughty Dog. Xbox fans can try and marginalize PS4 single player games all they want but they know the truth. If those games suddenly came to Xbox they'd LINE UP to buy those games!
@WickedLester “What's funny is i remember when Hellblade was exclusively on PS4, Xbox fans downplayed it, saying "oh look, another PS4 8 hour walking simulator“ I remember Xbox fans saying exclusives don’t matter much anymore that 3rd party games outsell them for the most part. Now they matter once again. Lol
Senua's Sacrifice was not stellar?
It was a decent little game. Wouldn't call it stellar.
@BeardedDrachen It only became "stellar" when it came to Xbox. Before that it was just another PS4 walking simulator, LOL
It was dope platinum'ed the hell outa dat bitch
Gears of war 4 is a fantastic game, so his Halo. They just aren't new ips. Imo Xbox has dome a great job of turning it around but new ips take time, but right now the X is my goto place to play all third party games and ms exclusives since they look better, i play Sony exclusives on the ps4.
It showed the future has hope. (Which at this point in time it's the only thing Xbox can do).
Its shows unlike the powa of cloudzzz /s but seriously shows a good future for Xbox but not yet a good competiton for Sony or Nintendo but 2021 or 2022 shall show
We must have been watching 2 different events.
I'd agree if Microsoft had announced and shown some real games from those Studios, but right now it's just words, with no evidence of results. Sure some of these new developers will hopefully be able to add real games to XBox's small output of games, but it's not like we didn't hear about a similar amount of new Devs coming onboard to MS's family of Devs, that later got canned. Hopefully this won't happen again and these new MS 1st party guys can release great content, I'd certainly love to see XBox in good form like they were back in the OG and early 360 console days.
I'm pretty excited that MS is putting in extra effort for first party titles like Sony. It only benefits us all in the end game.
Lmao this is the most fair and balanced post in this thread, and you have 7 dislikes and 0 likes. Unbelievable. Well here, I'll give you a like.
I actually get the disagrees. They’ve yet to show any equality in output to Sony. Yes, buying some studios is a foot in the right direction, but they have a long way to go before they should even be put in the same sentence as Sony in regards to effort.
It's N4G...I sort of expect it. It doesn't matter what you say. Just expect downvotes.
As a Sony gamer... yup you are correct. Hell it will even benefit Sony by keeping them on their toes.
No it painted the future for Games Pass which MS is heavily betting on unfortunately there aren't as many people that support it as MS like you to think.
That's the damn truth.
Once all the first party games get put on it day one tons will subscribe.
I'll believe it when I see legitimate results
This site is such a toxic place. Back OT, MS should definitely (and I think they would) acquire even more studios to help push the Gamepass service and their first party game outputs.
Need results first.
With that fake Mexican audience to act made a whole lot of embarrassments
All they did was abandon the xbox one and leave a bad taste in peoples mouth. I'm not buying one next gen.
Huh? The support for the X1 (including the base) is still going strong. What are you talking about?
Really, what exclusives were released this year that I couldn't get on my PC, exactly.
They have stated again and again that their games are and will be releasing on both the X1 and the PC. How is the games being on PC make you unable to play them on the X1?
In terms of big name games, they've only released a couple Forza's, and a Gears, since Quantum Break released. That was 2-1/2 years ago. Since then they've also cancelled games, and spent more time talking about themselves and how great they are, how they have the most powerful console, how they're going to be great in the future, as opposed to making their system something unique and worth the purchase. Yes, they support the X1, but both Nintendo and Sony set better standards for how they support their console.
I liked the Vita but I’m definitely in the minority
