Time to prey on the inexperienced and get myself some easy chicken dinners!

JaguarEvolved30d ago

Will there be a switch version also?

lxeasy30d ago

Fortnite is on switch so I don't see why not. But def not anytime soon though.

Eonjay30d ago

Fortnite actually runs well. Unless PUBG has been completely transformed to use the engine better, I don't have high hopes of seeing it run well. No to saw that they could bring that crappy performance to an even weaker machine than the Xbox One.... yeah don't hold your breath.

JaguarEvolved30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Pubg is on mobile phones and could probably run on a ps2 console. Unit 13 on ps vita looks a lot better than pubg also

gamersday0830d ago

@Eon, PS4 is more powerful than xbox1

KickSpinFilter30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

@Eonjay
"No to saw that they could bring that crappy performance to an even weaker machine than the Xbox One.... yeah don't hold your breath."
It's already been on the weakest machine the org XB1. Not only that, thanks to your Beta testing on XB1 it's probably going to run better on PS4. Good try, but epic fail.

UltraNova30d ago

Missed train. Even if it was free with plus or F2P, which it isn't, Blackout and Fortnite are the go to BR games for PS gamers now and BFV's BR mode is inbound. Do I even have to mention its sub-par performance 2 years in?

nowitzki200430d ago

I really doubt there will be a Switch version. Unless they ported PUG mobile to Switch.

Chris_GTR130d ago

bluehole have proven time and time again that their incompetence. pc versions been slowly dying for over half a year now, xbox versions been broken for over a year. "fix pubg" didnt fix anything. If you think the ps4 version is going to run smoothly , you clearly have no idea what your talking about.

i guess if you squint then that kind of looks like nathan drake a little bit

doggo8430d ago

There were a lot of people that said this game won't come to ps4. Well it's here now. I'm sure you were one of them. I know a lot of people hyped this up as a major xbox exclusive. I know you are one of those people too

TheGoodestBoi30d ago

Not sure why you are getting so many disagrees. People were beating their chests like it was a reason to get a Xbox over ps4 when we all know that Sony has a policy of not allowing early access titles on their store.

salmonade30d ago

Who cares lol. The vast majority of people know that Playstation is the best by far and are the generation leader for a reason. Who cares what some Xbots said? Lol, I just pity them at this point.

Software_Lover30d ago

"...……….. a lot of people"?

Come on man. A few people on N4g does not equal a lot of people. MOST people knew that this was coming to PS4 eventually.

DJStotty30d ago

No one said this was an exclusive as its also on PC and mobile platforms.

Guess you will win every match...considering you will be the only one playing this shite.

rainslacker30d ago

So...is chicken dinners some sort of significant cultural reference now? Or are you just trying to sound cool?

UltraNova30d ago

So that's why it got so chilly up in here?

DerekTweed30d ago

Chicken dinner refers to winning a game.

Winner winner, Chicken dinner.

It's been around a lot longer than PUBG has.

Travis370830d ago

Hope it’s improved now. This game is a mess on Xbox one. Please at least be a solid 30fps on PS4

Clark8830d ago (Edited 30d ago )

I'll be playing Battlefield 5 and wait for their BR mode. Not to mention I'm still playing Fortnight

chrisoadamson30d ago

What b.s. runs fine and had done for a while on Xbox one. I play on the x and it's a great game . Ps4 players enjoy

30d ago
SheenuTheLegend30d ago

i have one x and honestly speaking it sucks still. and i cant believe it runs better on a stupid pocket phone than a pc or x1x.

Dlacy13g30d ago

I hope they get the greenlight for crossplay on this. I think this is a game that would benefit from a large console player pool.

lxeasy30d ago

oh that would be amazing. If Fortnote and could do it so can this.

djsilke4530d ago

Nooo crossplay please absolutely not

Dlacy13g29d ago

For a game that is the exact same build and relies on having a robust community to ensure you have healthy player counts for matches why in the world would you not want crossplay between xbox and ps4 console players (ala Fortnite)?

hench0730d ago

Wonder how much Sony paid to finally get this.

parris30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

What are you talking about Microsoft has already said they paid to get early access to PUBG, it's been discussed numerous times by both Microsoft execs and PUBG Corp. And why would Sony pay for PUBG when It's obvious why PUBG Corp would want access to the 90 million PlayStation user base. PUBG Corp has far more to gain by getting on PlayStation than Sony has to gain by getting PUBG.

PUBG Corp has said since the very beginning the game was coming to other consoles it's not like this is some new deal. this was known even before PUBG was on xbox.

ImGumbyDammit30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

You are right. Except for the 90 million user base. Please stop making up numbers that don't exist yet. Not that the user base won't' be close to 90 by the end of the fiscal year (April 2019) but, you lose points in an argument with false data thrown out there. The last number is 86 million and that is actually total shipped number, not total sold number. Shipped as in total user base + all the console boxes sitting warehouses and store shelves around the world that have yet to be sold.

Srhalo30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Yeah Parris, leave the making up of numbers to the pro's like ImGumbyDammit, he has far too much experience to compete with.

But honestly Gumby by December 7 after Black Friday week it'll be 90 million. The last 3 years PlayStation sold 5- 6 million units during the holiday and there are at 84.6 (sold) as of October 20'th. So I don't think that Parris's claim is inaccurate.

NLink071430d ago (Edited 30d ago )

@Gumby

The argument of 90 million vs 86 million is academic at best. Either way you slice it it’s a large player pool that was passed on. This brings me to my next general opinion:

3rd party Xbox exclusivity is to me to is a waste of potential income. By restricting yourself to a low install base (last REPORTED 10 million by Microsoft, likely much much higher but if we adhere to your standards then we must go by 10 million) is a gamble. PUBG did sell 8 million copies on Xbox one which is super solid. But now it’s interest has waned. Hell I rarely see anyone on my friends list of 100 plus play (myself included, played once and it was too janky to hold my interest) means the ship has long sailed. I imagine PS4 interest will be lower than fortnite or BO4. That’s a lot of “missed sales” from that exclusivity period. I do wonder how much was paid formthat exclusivity; was it enough to offset that loss?

I can’t apply the same logic to PS4 exclusivity based purely on install sizs but can make the case that you have a perceived lower “attach rate” for a title just due to the player base. That being said I do think it wouldn’t be larger than the total Xbox one game sales. PS4 exclusivity to me does make sense (H1Z1 showed this, it’s not as well known as PUBG in BR scene but 4.5 million sales as per Games Radar) showed that catering to the largest player base can reap some (huge) rewards.

It’s why I don’t get BFV going all in on PC and Xbox early access. Your biggest prize has to wait the longest 🤷🏾‍♂️

darthv7230d ago

@gumby, this was a little over a year ago but it's probably grown since then.

https://www.vg247.com/2017/...

neutralgamer199230d ago

Imgumby

Close to 90 million by April 2019. Are you joking it will get close 95 million before December 31st

$199 ps4 Spiderman bundle. Last few years ps4 sold 5-6 million during holiday season this year that number will be closer to 10 million

darthv7230d ago

Hmm... because the game isnt likely to be F2P then the player base drops to around 30-40 million. That is roughly the number of PS+ users as that will be required for this game unlike Fortnite which is F2P for all PS4 players.

DerekTweed30d ago

The other thing is you will need PS+ to play. How many PS+ subscribers are there?

Of course potentially there are approximately 90 million PS4 consoles shipped by Sony but the actual playerbase on PS4 for multiplayer games is much smaller.

30million PS+ subscribers maybe?

rob-GP30d ago

@imgumbydammit - the OP said ‘user base’ - there are more than 5m PS4’s out there being used by more than one person in the household.

The actual user base is probably over 100m easily, if Sony decided to report on number of people with an account like they do.

bluefox75530d ago

Why would they pay a dime? No one cares about this game anymore.

B1uBurneR30d ago

@ bluefox, following your logic. God of war sold 10 million + = everybody cares. PUBG sold 40 million + = nobody cares. This games performance has improved on pc and xbox I'm sure they are learning from experience to have it working at launch better than it did on both pc & xbox. It's can get intense. This is not for the light hearted.

Lionalliance30d ago

Better do some research first before you say anything like that.

subtenko30d ago

No one cares about this game anymore. its lost in the dust. Its old news

subtenko30d ago

they didnt pay anything, PUBG paid them LOL

Sony: we dont want ya

PUBG: plzzz plzzzzzz

StormSnooper30d ago

MS paid to get timed exclusivity. It’s sort of their thing.

xX-oldboy-Xx30d ago

A big fat $0 - why would they have to pay anything? That other camp did so they had a selling point last Christmas, and STILL got obliterated in sales - much like every other Christmas.

CarlDechance30d ago

How much did Microsoft pay to keep it away from PS4?

darthv7230d ago

Nothing. It came to xbo because MS offers early access program. It was always going to come to PS4 (and possibly the switch) when it was ready.

parris30d ago

darth, Microsoft paid to publish the game as part of the deal to have it on xbox first. They sent teams and helped fund the conversion this was all discussed by Bluehole on several occasions. Perhaps you recall the article about how Microsoft sent The Coalition to help with the port.

You might note the difference with the PS4 version which PUBG Corp is publishing.

darthv7230d ago

@parris, yeah I remember coalition helping out porting to console so in the end both sides win because they helped them make that jump to console hardware because they sure as hell had issues with getting it running on PC just right.

And because the ps4 and xbo share some silicon... then that's why its able to come to ps4 in a much more timely manner. So you can show appreciation for MS helping to bring this to more people instead of keeping it to themselves like many thought they would do.

parris29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

@darthv72

I think that's an extremely lopsided view of the situation.

I think that far more accurate view is that Bluehole was going to bring the game to both consoles when Microsoft paid them to keep it exclusive. I think it's likely that Microsoft did in fact try to buy PUBG (as was rumored) but Bluehole/PUBG Corp. said no. If it hadn't been for Microsoft paying for timed exclusivity it probably would have come to PS4 in the first quarter of 2018. But if you want people to thank Microsoft for beta testing the game... I guess maybe that's legitimate.

Really as gamers I don't think it matters much, Fortnite came to mop of the floor with the BR scene as well as H1Z1 and now Call of Duty and soon BF5. The big losers in the Microsoft deal wasn't Sony (as I'm sure Microsoft hoped) the big loser was PUBG Corp. who missed the train on PS4's user base.

KickSpinFilter30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Nothing.. More like how much did MS pay to keep this away for one year.

rainslacker30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Probably nothing. They're probably paying Sony for a PS3 release license. The value of PUBG went down quite a bit when fortnite came out and pretty much steamrolled everything.

On top of that, Fortnite is still F2P, so no need for a paid PS+ account, which PUBG won't have the benefit of.

darthv7230d ago

That's what i was thinking. Which means the potential player base would be about 30-40 million PS+ subscribers. Much lower potential than if it went full F2P like fortnite.

Elda30d ago

LMAO! You've got jokes!

Ceaser985736130d ago

Hench..
You poor troll.. M$ Pays to make Xbox relevant Not Sony... From SOTR to PUBG. Such desperate move to sell those Xbox..

salmonade30d ago
