ICEY Review | Kinglink-Reviews

Kinglink writes "I received ICEY as part of a bundle with the Steam Link. Actually, I bought the Steam Link and got ICEY with it, but I was curious about why it was the game to be featured in the Steam Link Bundle, so I put it in my queue, though near the bottom. Well, it’s time to finally look at ICEY and figure out what’s so special about it."

The sexy mech battle game “Iron Saga” has just announced its collaboration event with “iCEY”

Game Duchy are today very excited and happy to announce the latest event to arrive in their hit mech battler "Iron Saga", and that would be the "iCEY" Collaboration Event.

So after hearing about the game, waiting with baited breath for the English version, as a mech enthusiast I couldn't get past the tutorial. Its that "meh" to me.

For real, you couldn't get past the tutorial? Then why all the likes and positive comments? (paid for?)

Godmars2901542d ago

I'm a picky bastard when it comes to mechs. The artwork might be beautiful, but the strict top-down view/brief control of units for a 30 sec to 1 minute fight, frankly brain dead bloated "story" which I've tried and failed not to skip, and of course the gotcha collection only does negative things to me.

Why is it otherwise positive Billy? Probably because I'm old. Not representative of a general audience that by many reports are more into slice of life anime and consider the mech genre to be dead.

ICEY is a great game. It's like a 2D mix of Nier Automata and Stanley Parable. I know nothing about this other game.

TGG_overlord1542d ago

"ICEY" I know of as well, "Iron Saga", not so much. Yep, that's right ;)

ZeekQuattro1542d ago

Doesn't look all that fun. I'll check it out though as I've played games that didn't wow me in videos but ended up liking once I sat down and played them myself.

TGG_overlord1542d ago

The best thing people can do is to try the game for themselves BEFORE turning it down as a whole.

Godmars2901542d ago

If you can get through the usual gotcha mechanics while hopefully resisting them, the art you unlock might be worth it.

ZeekQuattro1542d ago

That won't be a problem for me. I've been playing DBZ Dokkan for over 3 years now and haven't spent a dime on it. Lol

A bit of an "out of nowhere" collab but still cool to see. Iron Saga looks kinda meh imo but I'll be checking out anyway once it releases just to see how it really is.

Also, since Iron Saga is a chinese mobile game, it's nice to see a china developed mobile game collaborating with another chinese game, since most of ther collabs were, imo, with popular western ips or popular japanese ips.

well deserved - great game

Segata2075d ago

This game is so good. Like a cross between Stanley Parable and Nier Automata.

Felt there was a bit of the DMC/Bayonetta DNA as well with all the combo building.

Wait what. Wolfenstein is definitely not indie. I'll fix it for you. Just say golf story that's a good one

VideoChums2093d ago

Yeah, we mention that in the article. It's a special episode of the series and is not an indie.

shinoff21832092d ago

It was kinda all over I must've missed that. My bad
