inXile: Backer Commitments Will Be Kept; Wasteland 3 Will Get Better, We'll Keep Being Us

inXile said that following the Microsoft acquisition, all existing backer commitments will be kept. Wasteland 3 will get better if anything and the studio will remain the same it was in spirit, only with additional resources to realize their ideas.

Loved part 2, but it definitely had that "Kickstarter" backing feel to it. Here's hoping with the MS aquisition that part 3 will have a more polish and longer gameplay.

Not to mention this will go to game pass day one!

Hope the backers enjoy the final product

Well that's good. Much like how Hellblade still had their physical release and VR options even after MS purchased them

Wasteland 2 was great. Torment Tides of Numenera was crap.

Let's hope inXile doesn't screw up Wasteland 3.

Might be the last great game they make. If its good, microsoft will monetize it to hell, cut content for dlc, preorder bonuses. And if its bad they'll just dump it, no fixes, no sequels, say gamers didn't support it based on sales.
It's sad to hear that blind optimism: "this helps us improve Wasteland3 & whatever’s up next." "more resources, more testing, etc." As if Microsoft is going to pour money into something without the expectation of getting even more money out. We've all seen enough studios especially RPG makers over they years to know how this will play out. Hopefully this can get out the door relatively intact like DA:origins before they start to "streamline" the experience for a "broader appeal."

All you see is negativity huh. Its like MS is the biggest devil in the gaming community.

Microsoft hasn't had many published games compared to other publishers this gen, but what they've offered has been pretty solid. They are not half as bad with MT as EA, Activision and Ubisoft. Halo 5, all post release content has been completely free as well, and Halo MCC is still getting updated, so I'm not sure why you think they'll cut content, unless you think it's inevitable for all big publishers to do so. I think it's a good thing that they're acquiring talented studios. Competition is great for gaming.

TekoIie2404d ago

That is really what the trade-off should be. If you have MT's then all post launch content should be free (e.g map packs). It means a few whales can basically fund the post launch content and everyone gets it for free.

Also, everyone was saying MS needs to expand their 1st party studio portfolio since it's become clear they couldn't guarantee consistent releases throughout a generation. All of a sudden they do that and it's still doom and gloom. Heres hoping they become a true contender for next gen.

Crackdown already has been confirmed to have no loot boxes or micro transactions. So why do you assume Microsoft tries to monetize everything

The same games that's been on sale under $20 for eons now.

You'd think with how many games and dlc there are on PSN they'd have a different selection of games every sale but the exact same games are on sale every week. I just wish they'd lower the prices of of their Hits list to what they used to be brought down to before they made em a Hit
