Microsoft is offering a free game ahead of their Xbox X018 conference and this time it is Crackdown through the Xbox One backward compatibility program.
Insecure, not quite. Maybe the right word is "spoiled" by a company that focuses on AAA highly rated exclusives, and a company that also frequently offers AAA older titles as free games. So yes, where I'm sitting that list is funny and sad to me. :(
@Unreal01 Crackdown is an Xbox 360 game not Xbox Original. And it is considered one of the best cult classics from the 360 era. Everyone bought it to get the Halo 3 beta... But, it surprised people and became a cult classic.
I thought you had all those games already, so you already paid for them? not sure about PES or CD1, but fairly sure you've talked about playing PUBG extensively in the past.
MS is giving you a game for free you already paid for. I'm not sure why you're overly excited about that, except I actually do know why.
If Aaron Greenburg was using this site, you'd actually put him to shame.
Already got it as a GWG freebie some time ago. I also own it on disc, from back in its day. Love it, and now maybe a few new players will get to love it too. Plays very well on the XONE.
It took them a few years but they got there in the end and finally released crackdown free..... (I heard they did a slight name change so this explains it).
And yet you have PS fans going crazy to play PS1 UNCHANGED in its original resolution of 480p on their modern day high def TVs...go figure. At least the game is in native 4k. I play it on my K OLED and it looks very crisp. Thos is a BC title, not a modern day game...how do you expect it to look? Serious question.
I'm a huge PS fan and supporter, but I have absolutely no desire to replay any ps1 games , if they were redone 4k I could still care less. When Sony gives me so many ps4 exclusives to play I have no interest in gaming in the past. I remember the ps1 games fondly, but leave them where they belong.
But that doesn't speak to the question does it? Regardless how you personally feel on the matter, the fact remains that PS fans all over are going gaga over PS Mini and playing PS1 games on a modern TV at a resolution of 480p and lower. If THEY can get excited, why not an Xbox gamer who can now play a very fun classic on their modern TVs....at modern resolutions???
You can see quite a bit of detail in the texture and variations of color from the camel's diet if it's in 4K...particularly if it's in 4K. Somehow, those CD screenshots don't seem to scale to 4K as well though.
@tim
I haven't seen a lot of PS fans going crazy over the PS Classic.Where is this perception coming from? General reception seems to be, "meh", from the PS fans except for the collectors, and the Xbox fans acting like Sony is committing a great sin against their user base. Hell, I'm a collector of systems, and usually love this nostalgic crap, but I haven't been able to get into any of the mini consoles.
But to address that the PS fans are going gaga over it....which I really haven't seen, maybe its because they're PS fans and want it for the nostalgia, more than the games? I haven't seen Xbox fans once mention Crackdown after it released originally, barely even talked about CD2, and only went ape-shit over it when it was all about how the cloud was going to kill Sony. You'll just have to trust me that a great many of the PS fans you see going "gaga" over this are probably collectors, who likely own most, if not all those games already, and probably have a means to play them.
I think the better question to ask is why is a mid-tier title being held in such high regard? Sony has plenty of mid-teir titles that were a lot more fun than CD1, and they don't really go crazy for them, or announcements related to them, like I've seen with CD3's hype. Some general excitement sure, but not so much talk about how it's going to be the best thing ever.
PUBG, Pro Evolution 2019 and now Crackdown all free!
Thank you Microsoft!
I had such great memories with Crackdown on the 360
Nice! I really enjoyed the original!
Going to get this today to get me ready for the new crackdown. I really hope the vehicle transformations are brought back.
This is nice and all but how about you release Crack Down 3 already!
