More Than 100 Million Copies of ‘GTA V’ Sold, ‘GTA Online’ Continues to Thrive

The continued success of both “Grand Theft Auto V” and “Grand Theft Auto Online,” along with a solid launch for “NBA 2K19” helped power a strong second quarter for Take-Two Interactive with net revenue growing 11 percent to $492.7 million, as compared to the same time in the last fiscal year, the company said Wednesday.

100 million + copies for a major AAA title that was never heavily discounted to this day and still going strong (charts in the top 10 all the time)....damn.

jukins2021d ago

Um it's been heavily discounted several times. I've never paid more than $30 for none of the three versions I've purchased over the years. Especially on PC gotnthe game and a couple mill for $24

Holy shit the bastards have done it

bignosepig2021d ago

It's hilarious to think that Red Dead Redemption 2 is in competition with GTA V. It just proves what a great game it is.

Cmv382021d ago

Huh?
1. Rockstar makes both games. Mario doesn't compete with zelda.
2. Rockstar never predicted gta would have done half this well.

Maybe im misunderstanding your comment. But it doesn't make sense.

slate912021d ago

I think that is why he said it is hilarious.

bignosepig2021d ago

What I'm trying to say is that even though rockstar made both games, it's crazy to think GTA V is still kicking and people still consider it a hot title. Which makes consumers have an option of picking between GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2 in some cases.

ClayRules20122021d ago

Bloody hell, they did it. 100 million is astonishing. Still love the game to this day (the story) & i’m glad others have enjoyed it as well.

AK912021d ago

I wonder if RDR Online will ever reach this?

UltraNova2021d ago

If GTA VI comes out in 4+ years allowing R* to milk the hell...ahem, expand, RDR Online then yeah it just might reach it.

JackBNimble2021d ago

You mean support don't you. Most devs don't put this much into a game over 5 years later and you call it milking.

LucasRuinedChildhood2021d ago

Definitely not but it doesn't need to. The game is already a massive success and will continue to sell really well, just not GTA 5 well

jukins2021d ago

It sold alot but I guarantee rockstar is depending on the online portion being the main money maker.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing6928d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos28d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius27d ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8528d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius27d ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
