Super Mario Party sales top 1.5 million

Super Mario Party sold 1.5 million copies in October, Nintendo announced during its Q2 2019 financial results briefing. It launched for Switch worldwide on October 5.

I think in this case the game is the best Mario Party in a long time, so that definitely helps.

Better than the last two numbered games but not so much better than the N64 & GCN titles

Agreed, had fun for a few games but the boards are tiny and have no variety or twists, too many motion controlled mini games, items cost too few coins and the games are too slow paced.

Mario Party 4 is still my favourite.

It's amazing how well Nintendo's ips sell. This is a great game don't get me wrong but try putting a game like this on another console and it just dose not come close in terms of sales. Nintendo have some magic when it comes to there own ips.

You can't use the "if this were on another console" line, because the strength of Nintendo's IPs are factored into the game's concept. Case and Point, Smash. There are literally hundreds of Smash rip offs, and even an "official" one in PlayStation All Stars, but they don't stick because the characters within them don't have the personality to carry that end of it.

I agree and I did not mean Nintendo's ips on other consoles I mean games like mnr, ps all stars, there have even been mini games that have not sold as well as this.
