Red Dead Redemption 2: No, Your Guns Are Not Lost

During you time with Red Dead Redemption 2, you may occasionally notice that weapons that you had equipped previously may not show up in protagonist Arthur’s inventory. This may happen after you have died, or after you jump back into the game after turning it off for a while.

I lost my scofield revolver after I died, had it customised nice too, and no, it wasn't on my horse either.

Kabaneri2415d ago (Edited 2415d ago )

I lost a legendary bear skin just for leaving it on the floor and walking too far away from the base camp.

milohighclub2415d ago

It isn't lost. Go to the place where they craft from legendary items, it will still be there.

DaMist2414d ago (Edited 2414d ago )

I seemed to have lost my legendary bear skin as well. Packed it on top of the horse, headed to town, placed the game on cinematic mode while I step into the kitchen and when he arrived to town, bear skin was gone.

milohighclub2414d ago

DaMist. If you go to saint denis there's a dude that still allows you to craft using it.
It's the icon next to the fencer, in a little market type area, his stores covered in animal pelts.

DaMist2414d ago

Thanks! @milohighclub I'll check it out once I get there.

CitizenFour2414d ago

can confirm with DaMist. If you lose it, the trapper still credits you for the pelt, allowing you to craft the items that require it. You just miss out on the $60 or whatever you would normally get for selling it to him.

Worse when you get off your horse and realise you've lost your weapons only to remember the game has an awful system where you need to keep managing your loadouts on your horse.

Sometimes being too realistic is bad in terms of overall fun

moomoo3192415d ago (Edited 2415d ago )

You're complaining about minor systems in this game all over n4g just dont play the game homie. Yes its a lot at first but once you grasp the systems you realize how much control you have over the smallest details. Take different loadouts for different activities, leave my guns on the horse when i go swimming so they stay dry. AC odyssey is a great game if you want something more streamlined and arcadey, this game is not really for everyone

Gh05t2414d ago

Saying how much control you have while the complaint is that the game takes the control of your items from you automatically is a contradictory statement.

moomoo3192414d ago

@Gh05t
I understand if getting off the horse and not having all your weapons frustrates you, but i enjoy having to think about my loadout and storing certain things on the horse. My guess is that rockstar knows how cumbersome the systems are at first, but for a game that will be played for years all of this detail will give it legs, despite being hard at first. we'll see

No Way2415d ago

Why do some of you consistent N4Gers always post the same comment on every article?

If it's that big of deal, sell it and pick up something else. A lot of games force you to pick a load out before a mission..

BadElf2414d ago

I love that system! I like Arthur doesn't have EVERY weapon on his person

Nu2414d ago

Good elf. This game is outstanding. Hopefully Nintendo takes notes of this game and puts them in the next Zelda

Gh05t2414d ago

I don't think people are complaining that you don't carry every weapon on you at all times. The issue I and many other people have is let's say I'm walking around with my pistol and rifle. I jump on my horse, ride a little bit, see something interesting, and jump off to shoot it. Only to find that while I was riding the game took the opportunity to place my rifle back on my horse. I didn't tell it to change load out. It does it automatically and it is extremely frustrating.

King_Noctis2414d ago

“Sometimes being too realistic is bad in terms of overall fun”

It may not be fun for you but you can’t speak for other people. I for once find this game fresh and fun which is different from the hundreds of open world games out there.

I thought I lost a gold revolver I got for killing a famous outlaw but then I realized when in the inventory you switch within weapon classes.

The one thing they should've left unreal is the weapon wheel/loadout system.

Smokehouse2415d ago

I searched all over the Internet with no luck trying to find out where my weapons went. Before I just said screw it and went on with no weapons. I was pissed until I realized I had to do the beginning horse mission to get them back. They do a poor job explaining the systems, it just seems glitchy to me.

*Remaster
not Remake
People still confuse the terms in 2025.

CrimsonWing696h ago

It kills me that at this point they still can’t. Like when people complain that The Last of Us has too many Remasters… when they literally have 1 and then a PS5 Remake 🤦‍♂️

Lionsguard10h ago

Sure, in 15 years maybe. I'm playing it right now and it looks better than most games today.

mkis0077h ago

I think it's not too much to ask for a current gen native version, like we got for gta 5

Lionsguard6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

That's not really a remaster or a remake, it's a patch at most.

Rumour: Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 Version Is Real, Out This Year

The possibility of a PS5 version for Red Dead Redemption 2 just became a bit more realistic, as the very reliable leaker NateTheHate has claimed in his latest predictions podcast that a next-gen version of the Rockstar open worlder is in the works.

On the podcast, he said: "Those rumours are true. Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting a next-gen update and the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year." They go on to say that they were told the new versions will launch "a few months" after Switch 2's release, which is tomorrow. They then speculate a late summer / early fall launch window.

Please please please. My dualsense needs this game.

Aloymetal3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Yup, this game needs that sweet 60fps treatment. Can't wait I hope this is real.

andy853d ago

Be rude not to give it another play. Definitely won't be going for the platinum this time. That was hell 😂

lukasmain2d ago

Lol it was even harder at launch. It took me a very long time. Apparently I've heard they made it easier getting the gold medals for missions in some way. But at launch time it was a pain because after you finish the story and go back to play missions to get the medals, you lose all your perks and abilities, your dead eye level and guns everything etc. You just have the stock standard bare minimum with crap guns. If I had have known they were going to do that, I would have made sure I got gold medals when I was playing the story. But I got it in the end. Pretty sure the trophies would auto-pop on a PS5 version

Cacabunga2d ago

Yes you are right.. you equipment from the main game carried on when you go for gold medals which is always something!
Also the fact you don’t need to get gold on every mission is the big thing.

Still a massive plat and one of the few I am very happy to possess

jznrpg3d ago

Nice! I’ll add it to my collection

aaronlif103d ago

I sincerely hope we finally get a next gen update to this game. It is long overdue. I'd love to see ray tracing and enhanced lighting get added. Perhaps more npc's or animals, ect.
