Well, so much for physical media being dead. Thats less than 40% digital sales on each game.

I for one hope physical media will continue to be the go to source of how we game, digitally those aren't bad numbers coming from Japan.

those are pretty solid number for JP.

They're both gonna coexist for a while. No company would dare axe physical. A lot of the world doesn't have fast internet.

Sony already tried with the PSP Go

Undertaker, the Go is a good system and was not meant to replace the PSP but be a smaller / cheaper option.

It was also reported that shipments where far under demand and almost all retail shops were sold out at launch forcing people to buy digitally.

I wonder what the worldwide sales numbers are for (Spider-Man) digital?

UltraNova650d ago

It should be close to 5 million, 2 million or so of those digital.

I think so. After all, i’m pretty sure Sony is ready to reveal their hardware numbers and software numbers as well thank to Spider Man.

stuna1650d ago

Everyone should have known Spiderman was going to put up big numbers not only in Software but Hardware as well. Only the delusional nay sayers with their heads in the sand would think otherwise.

Don't get me wrong when I say this, but I can't help but wonder how Spiderman would have done if had been released around Black Friday/Christmas season!? Personally I think it would have done better on Software as well as Hardware fronts. That's even taking RRedemptions release.
