Much like an ex-model-turned-actress on a celebrity rehab reality show, the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo has seen its share of ups and downs over the years. There was a time when it was the center if the videogame universe and the gaming world oohed and ahhed over its glittering, sexy spectacle.
But after more than 10 long years of living large, E3 hit rock bottom in 2007, scaling back to a shadow of its former self, taking the name E3 Media and Business Summit and retreating to Santa Monica. The gaming world shook its head in sorrow and hoped the show would get back on its feet the following year. But it wasn't to be.
