The soundtrack features work from Secret of Mana composer Hiroki Kikuta.
Jakejames Lugo of The Koalition writes: Like many other people, I enjoy and appreciate the gameplay of The Legend of Zelda series, especially the pre-Ocarina of Time era of the franchise. The action, exploration, and puzzle solving provided many hours of excitement and good times that stuck with me and so many other people throughout the years. For some, it became an inspiration to get into game design and create games in the same spirit as that iconic and legendary series. This is the case with Hazelnut Bastille, whose inspiration pulls heavily from games like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
This looks like a cool game that might be worth checking out down the road especially for Zelda fans.
Cliqist take a look at the demo for Aloft's old school action RPG Hazelnut Bastille, and get kind of owned in the process.
Ctrlaltquin at Fextralife writes, "Not many games can truly capture the romanticism of a classic top down adventure, but Hazelnut Bastille has accomplished this and more. The nostalgia is strong with this one, an unknowing gamer might even think this was a SNES classic that they have missed similar to Kynseed which we also recently previewed. Aloft Studio brings us Hazelnut Bastille, the adventure of a transient young lady thrust into adventure. It’s an inspiring story with a retro soundtrack sprawled across a glorious 2D landscape. Hazelnut Bastille is 16-bit style RPG pulling elements from many of the classic games we all know and love and I had the opportunity to sit down with the early build. The full game is slated to be released for PC in early 2018."
Probably won't play it but it does look good!
Looks more like Secret of Mana to me! edit: gameplay looks like Link to the Past. Same with the music. That girl's narration is AWFUL though. Needs a real narrator, not some breathy, Harry Potter watching fan girl.
Oh good. The game industry has a huge shortage of indie LOZ clones...
