Website writes "Microsoft's upcoming Project xCloud streaming tech makes it sound as though the future is now. But I'm not so sure."
No...No it doesn't lol
Clickbait article. Microsoft adressed the questions regarding Xbox consoles, confirming that xCloud is just an option.
Yeah, in their video they say “Xbox consoles will remain the flagship.” I see xCloud as like having Netflix on you phone. Given the option I’d prefer to watch it on my TV, but that isn’t always an option, so...
Until it proves more viable than consoles. Not like it hasn't already gotten one foot in the grave between everything being available day-one on PC.
@Godmars290 "Until it proves more viable than consoles. Not like it hasn't already gotten one foot in the grave between everything being available day-one on PC." You mean WINDOWS 10 PCs! And yes, Game Pass is super popular among Xbox One and Windows PC owners right now and that´s the very reason why xCloud is a completely different service for non console (or Windows PC) gamers.
Kind of missing the point though. Their message is pretty mixed when they say that the xCloud is going to have parity, but there's still the console option for those that want the premium experience. It doesn't really make sense...
It's better if they come out showing rather than talking. They have to demo the streaming and make it so that every household is able to render it at 1080p with minimal latency. They also have to make it clear that they aren't replacing the hardware but giving an option to play games(which I personally looking forward to) The key to this being a success is by communicating effectively and so far with what they've shown, they seem on track and ready to reveal more at XO18 and E3.
I feel like the video did a bit showing And they mentioned that it's just an option and not a replacement in the video. They say specifically that consoles will remain the flagship experience.
but how if this is supposed to achieve parity? It just seems odd.
Why would it? It’s not like playing on the cloud would replace people getting the actual hardware
We already know they are making next gen console though.
so if ps been doing this for a while now, why is it such a problem for xbox?
