Whenever a game comes out these days you always have at least one sight that gives the game a lower score then the rest just for clicks and it's normally from a no name site too. I'm all for opinions but this is blatantly one of those sites.

We've seen enough to know that the game aint a 9+ product. I'll be careful about the sites that do give it such a high score.

I dunno. Escapist is a major site, and as far as AC games go, while many people love them, I've always found them really shallow and boring. Not everyone is going to like what everyone else likes. Otherwise why have reviews at all?

As I said I'm all for different opinions. I'm not looking for 9/10 scores here. I enjoy scores that are a little lower then the rest as they list both the good and bad more openly. However when other sites give a game a reasonable score but one site deliberately scores a game low I can only assume it's clickbait. It'll happen with RDR 2 and any other game.

Currently on the front page of N4G, there's a 3/5, this 6/10, and 7.8/10. On the second page, there's a 7/10, 7.5/10, and plenty of 8's.

Clearly not just them, lower reviews for "hit games" shouldn't be ignored just because it's not a 9 or 10.

Well, a large portion of the users that visit this site ARE incredibly biased. Any gamer that isn't part of that extremist camp can see it. It's not one of those subtle things where you wonder.. is it there? No, it smacks you in the face over and over and over every day. It's undeniable. Exclusives must be put on a pedestal and their quality exaggerated to extreme degrees. Anyone who thinks those exclusives are anything less than amazing is attacked and has the full weight of the pack descend upon them telling them how wrong and utterly reprehensible they are for even hinting at such a thing.

Most multiplats, on the other hand, have to be downplayed so as to make the exclusives look better in comparison. Occasionally a multiplat will come along that is so good that it partially escapes this trend, but even some of the best scoring games like The Witcher 3 eventually get downplayed in a way they wouldn't have been had they been exclusives.

This pattern plays itself out over and over and is blatantly apparent to anyone who is paying attention. Is it the fault of N4G? No, it's a great site, which is why I visit it. The fault lies squarely on the shoulders of those individuals who choose to behave that way.

I haven't been excited for an Assassins Creed game in a long time. Origins didn't really catch my attention, but with Odyssey, I'm going to give it a shot.

It doesn't look like it's as a big of a departure from the old formula as I was hoping, but certainly looks better than a 6.

Yeah this why I don't trust IGN reviews, if Origins is anything to go by Odyssey should be somewhere in the middle not as low as a 6 but certainly not as high as a 9 my guess it's a 7.5 to 8 range that is where I would put it fun enough Ubisoft does have a formula they stick to and I wonder how much that formula is starting to feel old.

I tend to agree that IGN isn't very credible, but I DO think that Brandin Tyrrel (the IGN reviewer here) IS. I've agreed with him on damn near everything. He reviewed Bloodborne (gave it a 9.1) and I certainly can't disagree with that. I'm always in agreement with him, so I'll believe him on this one too.

It's Origins and Black Flag infused I wouldn't call that new I enjoyed both of those games but that is why making AC yearly can get tiring. Any who enjoy the game I rather wait and buy and spend my time on RD2.

It's new because they are taking what was best of both those games and doubling down on the rpg element . Some might even call it almost witcher like .

RDR 2 imo just looks like a reskin gta5 but I'm sure there's more to it .

Well, that's an opinion not a fact. I personally loved Origins and would give it over a 9 if I was reviewing it. Odyssey looks like they've took what was good about Origins and added new things and improved many of the mechanics. So for me I can easily see the IGN review being accurate while this one would be a joke.

At what point did I state anything I wrote as fact it's implied that it's my opinion since it is an open forum, the game is getting mixed reviews how is that for a fact. Just because you say it's a 9 and IGN say's it's a 9 doesn't make it so I have seen plenty of 7 and 8 more than anything else which seems to suggest I may be more inline with how many people feel about the game than you are.

Overall, it looks to be about an 8 to me, which is fine. I loved Origins and I'm sure I'll dump just as many hours if not more into this. Games don't have to be 9s or 10s for me to love them.

I was feeling AC fatigue for sure but Origins revitalized the series for me! Now Odyssey looks to take that template and expand on it greatly so I'll be getting it Friday and see for myself. I also enjoyed Black Flag and with Odyssey having more navel battles makes me happy! I can see why some are burnt on open world games especially Ubisoft's but Origins delivered for me and the Medusa quest looked and sounds exciting so I'm more than game!

the last big assassin's game i played but didn't finish was assassin's 3 (the one with the native american i think) if this game is better than that game then it's an automatic 8 from me....i just don't want to be climbing up dude's shlongs all the time...." not that there's anything wrong with that!" ...if you're into that sort of thing.😜
