SEGA leaves the door open to Shenmue I & II on Switch

Prior to the Tokyo Game Show last week, a fan poll was held to determine the most wanted SEGA Ages games for Switch. Jet Set Radio topped the list, but right behind it was Shenmue I & II. While both of these titles were just recently re-released on modern platforms, Switch was left out of the equation.

I don’t get the logic of Sega saying they’re open to having Shenmue on Switch but denying the possibility of seeing Yakuza on the system

Doge2463d ago (Edited 2463d ago )

Yakuza 6, Kiwami 2 and Project Judge would be impossible to get it up and running on the Switch unless it’s heavily downgraded. The game doesn’t even run at 1080p on a base PS4.

Yakuza 0 and Kiwami could work since they’re technically PS3 games (alongside 3-5), but having the series be incomplete would be a major bummer.

I personally would love to get my Yakuza fix on the go, but it ain’t happening, and I’m not really losing sleep over it.

They already tried Yakuza on Wii u and.im guessing it didn't sell well enough to warrant future releases on it

Segata2463d ago

True but Wii U failed period. Switch is a success but honestly, I don't think Yakuza would do well on Switch either personally. I'm fine with where Yakuza is. I'm sure every Switch owner has a PC and they can go play Y0 on steam now.

Its so awkward, Nintendo fanboys always calls to be recognized, yet games don't sell that well in the end in Switch.

FlyingFoxy2463d ago

Rubbish, gamers are pre ordering Monster Boy for the Switch much more than on PS4

Yea it's one example, but you say "games don't sell that well on Switch".. k

Segata2463d ago

Actually, they are. Why stuff like Doom Eternal is coming to it. 3rd party games have been doing pretty well on Switch and indie games are typically selling better on Switch than other consoles. 3rd party games are selling well on the system. Switch kinda broke that mantra that Gamecube/Wii and Wii U had of only Nintendo games sell.

Being a fan of shenmue. I recently began playing the remaster. The game feels horrible with controls. Just navigating the city is horrible, fighting controls are rubbish as well. I'm shocked I would say this, but the game isn't what I remember.

Diablo Immortal is still a thing? Ewww

What an out of season April's Fools joke

Christopher4h ago

It's quite popular on mobile since there isn't a lot of competition for games of its type that aren't even less engaging and just 'stare at your phone' games. Not to say Immortal is good, but for mobile, it's better than most.

If that is true then it sounds like it would be more substantial than just Ultimate Deluxe plus a few new characters.
