IGN: “A year and a half after release, the Nintendo Switch has delivered on its initial promise of allowing us to play high-quality games both at home and on the go – it just hasn’t gone much further than that. Being able to play its absurdly impressive (and still rapidly growing) library of both first and third-party games seamlessly on a TV and a handheld device is just as great as I hoped it would be, even if some design flaws have cropped up since we first got our hands on it. The Switch doesn’t have all the entertainment and social features people have come to expect from a home console, but that doesn’t stop it from being a disruptively good gaming machine with some of the best exclusives of this generation.”

"The Belgian solo indie games developer Thomas Waterzooi are today very happy and excited to announce that his cozy puzzler “Please, Touch The Artwork 2”, is coming to the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo Eshop on May 23rd, 2025." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
"The Barranquilla-based (Colombia) indie games developer KillaSoft today announced with great joy and thrill that their stylish third-person noir stealth action-adventure "The Shadow Syndicate", is coming to PC (via Steam and consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch) in 2026." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
I play the Switch so much. Octopath, Xenoblade, Zelda, Mario, Mario and Rabbids, Hollow Knight, Doom, Mario Kart, DBX2, Sonic Mania and more. I just cannot get enough of these games on this machine. I do realize that the Switch is not perfect and that's cool. But, it more than makes up for it with terrific games and I adore the Joy Cons! They are some of my favorite controllers of all time. The 3rd party games are coming as time goes by, but I don't know if the Switch will get all of em. Only time will tell.
8.3. Honestly that's about right if we're grading the console as a whole. Not much has changed since launch. Nintendo Online is now here all that's really introduced is paid online.
The games have been phenomenal though. I wouldn't have guessed I'd have as many physical copy Switch titles so early. I currently have BOTW, super Mario Odyssey, Octopath Traveller, Sonic Mania, Xenoblade 2, SnipperClips, Mario Kart, and Bayonetta 1&2,
Hopefully things improve on the console side. I'd still LOVE an achievement system even if it is a long shot at this point. I'd love folders as well and Netflix should be a must. VRV or Crunchy Roll on the app side. Communities should make a return. Honestly the Switch seems like a huge step back on the social side compared to the Wii U.
If portability is so important for everybody, great. But as a couch coop console, its a step backwards from WiiU, which came with its own display and let two people play the same game with two screens. Rayman Legends is so much better on the WiiU because of that. Now Nintendo is back on the money train instead of really broadening whats possible on a console. The Switch is like Call of Duty 17, sticking to old tropes from Wii times.
7-8 is about right. I’d give it a higher score if there was more games like Xenoblade or Octopath . A lot of indies but only interested in a couple . More power would be nice too but games are more important because I play multiplats on PS anyway. Battery life could be longer so it was more portable without needing power banks. Accessories are overpriced and the online not having built in voice chat makes it poor imo. So I’d give it a 7.5 based on the great games it does have but wish there were more.
Personally for me its a 7/10 max. I think it's got a long way to go to get anything higher than that from me.
