Japanese developer Ninetail is trying to bring their flagship series westward by Kickstarting the English release of VenusBlood FRONTIER.
NVIDIA has released the RTX HDR AI-powered Freestyle filter to enable great HDR in SDR-only PC games. They also added RTX Dynamic Vibrance.
I had a little drag and drop mod that did this, it's nice to see that I can do it through the filters now. It really makes a difference on games like Control that has some really washed out blacks making the game lose depth and look flat. Borderlands 2 looks great with it on, makes the colours pop and the 'splosion's are epic.
A report by the Entertainment Software Association has found that 72% of children in the US want games-related products for Christmas, but only 22% have asked for physical games.
Kind of sad how times have changed
I remember circling games I wanted for Christmas in an Argos catalog.
Won't ever have kids but if I did, no kid of mine would be allowed to associate with such degeneracy! Raise your kids on NES games folks, the future is in your hands.
They won’t get it from me.
I told my kids I would buy them one card for Minecraft last year and when their points run out that’s it. I explained to them they will add stupid stuff to get money forever for little things not worth the money they are charging.
They don’t ask as they know it’s pointless to. I told them I’d rather buy them a new game than give them 5$ here and there for stupid skins and stuff.
Roblox is banned in my house.
I don’t have an issue with my kids as I made sure to not let it grow into one but I can see how parents don’t realize some of these games are money pits when their kids start playing them.
8K UUHD with path tracing at 5000 FPS is great, but what if you only have $300?
So the BG3 guys found an optimization for all other platforms by way of the little engine that could... interesting.
The typical "it's holding us back" argument aside, from a sales perspective, the S is selling way more than the X (wasn't it like 75% of total?), so you could make the case that if it wasn't for the S, Xbox would have like 25% of the sales they have now...
This is what happens when you have people jumping the gun for some quick doom and gloom headlines. Not to mention getting opinions from devs that were possibly frustrated that they would have to do some extra tinkering for the S. And to an extent, rightly so. But the optimization and trades are there to make a game play on the S. It's a budget console and it should be treated as such.
But I have to laugh at the rest of the crowd who actually told people that the S was holding back this gen and pretended to be shocked that the S wouldn't have the bells and whistles that the X or PS5 would.
It's almost as if they were reaching, hard.
The S means there will never be a current gen. game built specifically for the SX. Most devs and publishers don't have the talent to optimize like BG3.
BTW, I only game at 30,000 fps...This article is a stupid take. The only thing good about the S is that it kept MSXbox way below 2nd place.
I can't do Kickstarters anymore. All the projects I helped to fund in my mid twenties took until my thirties to come out. :(
I've written a full-length article summarizing the appeal of Venus Blood Frontier, why Ninetail deserves your support, and discussing why gameplay eroge fans should rally behind the Kickstarter.
