Dean Takahashi: "Things were going great in my first preview of Red Dead Redemption 2, the big Wild West game from Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive coming on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on October 26."
Hopefully we'll just be able to reload to an earlier manual save...
Shooting the dog wasn’t the crime, firing the gun in town near people was the crime. This is the Wild West not the good the bad and peta. The whole we screamed in shock as you shot the fake dog was just dumb. Geez it’s a game your not lined up in front of a slaughterhouse protesting animal cruelty. It’s a game, you don’t get brownie points for animal rights.
Some people seem to think that if you do something violent in a video game, it means that you would (or wish you could) do the same thing for real. I miss the days when everyone wasn't so sensitive and 'politically-correct'.
I know people who dont even care that much about animals in real life, and they would happily eat whatever is on their plate, but if they see an animal die in a video game or tv show, they show their fake ass emotions as if it actually happened in real life.
Video games are like the gateway drug to real life.
Everything has to be hyper politicized by certain groups.
You should pray that it wasn't John Wicks dog.
Lol. That is a good one!

Shit, I just googled it, pencils existed way before 1899. Yup, you're f**ked if you do that.
I got annoyed reading their review of their preview. Sounds negative through the way that they seem to be socially trying to account for their actions.... It's a game. Enjoy it.
if you read the entire preview you would learn it wasn't negative at all....it's obvious people took out of context the whole shooting of the dog. he was simply describing what happened and how vested he was in it. you could really lose yourself within the game is what he was trying to convey...there was no outrage to be had seeing as how you could shoot birds and animals galore in the previous red dead game without remorse. in this case, the townspeople remember what you did and act accordingly...making you feel like a true scumbag.... i swear, some people just like to read 2 lines of a story and draw their own conclusions. 🙄
Totally agree. Looks like nobody read the article as assumed the worst. This game appears to be super immersive! Reminds me of the PS1 MGS, when the game tracked your controller responses and the character would counter with real-time taunts based on what you physically did!
The PETA fear is tangable in article. I'm loving the depth of this game though.
So, no realism whatsoever then. Shooting a dog even 50 years ago would have been akin to destruction of property, assuming someone actually owned the dog, and it wasn't a stray. This is the Wild West, the better part of another century earlier, where shooting even some people was justifiable daily.
