Nobuo Uematsu to take an extended leave of absence

Nobuo Uematsu: "Since the establishment of Dog Ear Records, I have found myself blessed with countless opportunities. From composing new works to holding concerts around the world, my days have been hectic, yet fulfilling. The resulting fatigue, however, has finally caught up with me, and I find it mentally and physically difficult to go on at my current pace. After giving serious consideration to all options, I have decided to take an extended leave of absence and give my mind and body the time they need to properly mend. If I am to return, I want to do so in full health. Do not worry. Once I’ve made a full recovery, I’ll be back doing what I do best."

The story is too old to be commented.

Take as long a break you need cuz you earned it

Legit question does the man have disclosed health issues? I think there might be a bigger reason for this hiatus.

He's probably working himself too hard (similar to a lot of Japanese artists whether they'd be musicians or manga artists). A lot of manga artists do the same thing. You'll see them go on hiatus because they literally give up their life to produce art. Sitting in a chair all day, back scrunched, writing music/ drawing art for years can take a toll on your health. The man deserves a rest. He's proved himself to be one of the best in the industry, so his legacy is already set in stone. Even if he never comes back to composing music for games, he'll still be remembered as one of the best the games industry has to offer.

Well deserved. Hope he'll come back with more marvelous songs. Thanks Nobuo.
