If you are a fan of puzzle games you’ll likely find a good deal to like in the 5 or 6 hours of gameplay provided by Spectrum Retreat.
Spectrum is a unique and striking puzzle game that gives you control of a little black comet-like creature. The aim of Spectrum is to navigate your little companion through a series of moving mazes as fast as you can while collecting tiny white or black specks.
Josh writes: Spectrum is a game developed by 3D Avenue that wears it minimalist design like a badge of honour. It originally came out in 2015 on iOS and Android devices to generally positive reviews. One year later, it would appear on Steam and now it’s been released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
The game is simple in nature. The design, the buttons used to move your character, and the music are all very basic and straightforward. This could be seen as lazy by some individuals, but I believe it’s a nice break from the hyper-realistic games we see from AAA studios. You play as a nameless, three-eyed, black blob traversing through an abstract world full of bright colours.
Spectrum is a minimalist platform game brought to you by the talented (and super friendly!) folks at 3D Avenue. The Venezuelan indie developers have previously brought you the mobile arcade game Nanomites and have now developed something new and exciting: Spectrum! I had the chance to play the game and also chat with 3D Avenue themselves.
