ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian creator Fumito Ueda talks about his next game project's advancement and development method.
Let's just hope we don't have to wait until 2027 to play it or something.. :P
Don't worry it'll come out in 2026. >_>
^haha... but seriously it will be a launch title for the PS6 in 2025
The Last Guardian 4k 60 FPS edition will release in 2026
the company that funds him though is from an Xbox frendly environment ...i hope he releases the game on PS too
lol i dont know even know this company stays alive they release a game every 8+ years or so and last time i checked the last guardian didnt sell a lot
Sony keeps the lights on for them :P
Its sold over a million if I'm not mistaken. But given the ps3 to ps4 development cycle I'm sure it was still a loss but I'm glad sony ddidnt kill it because I love the game and as far as impactful stories this one is one of the best.
Umm, you do know that SIE Japan Studio is probably Sony's most active developer.
Not a single positive comment so far... In any case, any news from Ueda on a new game is welcome to me! Appreciate the read.
Will be waiting with baited breath from one of my favorite developers.
I can’t wait to play it on Playstation 6 Pro
I want to know more :)
There's a lot of jokes about the release date, but to be fair there was only 4 years between Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The Last Guardian is the only one that took a while (it came out 11 years after Shadow of the Colossus did). It's highly likely that the AI in the game was too complicated to run on the PS3. On top of that, the Trico's AI raised some issues as some players were frustrated by their inability to understand Trico's behavior. I'm sure that also complicated development and raised questions on how to proceed. Under most publishers it's highly likely the game simply would have been cancelled or the publisher would have told them to start Trico's AI from the beginning and have him directly follow the player's commands 100% of the time. I don't really have a judgement as to whether or not it was better or worse with that AI, but I imagine it did cause some tension during development and drew the game's development time out even more. The Last Guardian released in December 2016, so we *could* see a new game from Ueda in 2020, though a year or two after that is more likely.
Is the VR game ever coming out or was it always supposed to be just a demo?
I think that was meant to only be a demo. Which is a shame as I too would of liked it to of been the full game in VR.
One of my favorite devs. Hope to hear more about it soon.
It looks as if though this will be multi platform and a game with a much smaller budget wonder how that will affect the final product. Hope it ends up being awesome.
