I've heard this cloud processing promise before from Microsoft when they pitched it with Crackdown. Turns out they couldn't get it working so why is this going to work?

As I understand it this is full game streaming and not trying to offset compute power, maybe that's the difference?

Maybe in 5 years, with Fiber and no bandwidth caps.

5G is years from getting widescale adoption in North America. I work for a Telecom Company and know this. Don't listen to "we are 5G ready" marketing crap we put out that covers 5 sectors in some city and tries to say we are everywhere.

5G is susceptible to lag like any wireless technology. Its fast, but not really that great for widespread adoption for task critical tasks that happen in graphics "grunt work".

That being said, it's going to be a long while before 5G becomes readily available, and even when it is more available, the cost to buy in with the hardware required is going to stay at a premium.
