Day 1, this and resi 2 remake in the same month!! Really looking forward to jan now!!

Abriael2494d ago

I wish it was a remake with the Resident Evil engine, but I'll take this. Oh yes I will.

showtimefolks2494d ago

I was hoping for a collection instead of one game

AnubisG2494d ago

I think Capcom is testing the waters with this to see if there is interest in the franchise. If this sells well, I'm sure we will either see all 4 games released or possibly a brand new Onimusha. So buy this game guys!!!!!

starchild2494d ago

Such great news. I loved the Onimusha series.

We truly are living in great times. I'm loving this revival of feudal Japan based games. Nioh 2, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice, Ghost of Tsushima, and Onimusha remaster...so awesome.

Muzikguy2494d ago

@starchild

I’m loving it as well. I know being younger I saw these things a little differently (probably from having less responsibilities, but feudal Japan is so intriguing and these games don’t come around often

TheGoodestBoi2494d ago

@starchild I look forward to trying Onimusha for the first time since it's always highly spoken of here. I really enjoyed Nioh

NecrumOddBoy2494d ago

I also think that this is a test the waters kind of game. They're also maybe some licensing issues with the Jean Reno onimusha game so maybe that's why we didn't get a collection. But I do think Capcom is hitting all the right cues here and we may get a brand new one down the line

bouzebbal2494d ago

let's see the price, but i got chills when i saw the trailer.
haven't seen onimusha 1 gameplay since last time i finished it, and that's a long time ago.
still looking good tbh...

lxeasy2494d ago

could this mean they are working on a future onimusha game?

MagUk2494d ago

Fingers crossed 🤞🏻!!

starchild2494d ago

They are wanting to see how much interest there still is in this franchise. That's why I hope this Onimusha remaster sells well and convinces them to make a new Onimusha game.

thatguyhayat2494d ago

Aaah a collection what have been good. But yessssss its a start. Capcom is listening they're listening

Muzikguy2494d ago

Hopefully they don’t release each one individually and then the collection

CP_Company2494d ago

lazy remaster. pathetic. i could understand if game is from 2014 or 2013, but come one, it is from 2001. lazy work, just grab as much money as they can, with no respect to customers.

DafunkyRebel2494d ago

This game is short so 20 bucks it a spit in our faces

Muzikguy2494d ago

I was telling a buddy of mine that I’d buy PS4 games all day for $20 lol.

Well, good ones

theKiller2493d ago

@CP_Company

I agree with u. I bought the original Onimusha on ps2. It was great. But this remaster is not that great. What a shame. Shadow of the Colussus remaster for ps4 is a good benchmark.

this remaster is a cheap one.

MWH2494d ago

I know how you feel but there's no way to upgrade the visuals without re-rendering the backgrounds in hi-res if the assets are there and it's possible.

the thing is; these kind of releases are like tests, if a game succeed they may green-light a new game or a sequel.

SuperbVillain2494d ago

Yeah it feels more like an upscale than a remaster. I wish they would have handled this remaster like they did the resident evil one

cooperdnizzle2494d ago

That’s called a remake. This is a remaster.

CrimsonWing692494d ago

Wow... give an inch and they ask for a mile...

SuperbVillain2494d ago

Just saying, onimusha deserves the same attention

Seraphim2494d ago

that's my thoughts watching the video. for a game so old it needs a Remake, not Remaster. PS3 Remasters are easy, they're already HD. PS2 and older are HD or Widescreen so need to be Remade as a Remaster, as shown, just doesn't do it justice. Looks cheesy, cheap.... though that's probably why it's only $20. Much as I've wanted Onimusha to return idk that this it. Guess we'll see what I have going on in Jan or once it goes on sale and go from there.

ScootaKuH2494d ago

Don't buy it then. Problem solved

Will We Ever See A New Onimusha Game?

Cultured Vultures: Capcom's epic samurai series Onimusha has been on hiatus for the better part of 15 years. We're asking if it'll ever come back.

Nope, and Capcom tested the waters with Onimusha HD and nobody bought it. So, yea, we effectively killed the Onimusha franchise by not buying the game.

MrSwankSinatra1520d ago

not true because i remember in that leaked capcom document of all their future projects "onimusha new work" was one of the titles listed.

blackblades1520d ago

Yeah that was a literal leak not a rumors leak. Guess people forgot about it.

VersusDMC1520d ago

The HD remake had a music problem due to the controversy with the original composer and replacing his music with meh music. Maybe that affected sales.

But an Onimusha game of the quality of recent capcom games (RE2,DMC5) would definitely be welcomed by everyone and the sales of Ghost of tsushima will hopefully push Capcom to give the franchise another try.

Silly gameAr1520d ago

It wasn't a remake though, it was a remaster, and they could have done a better job on it, but it was good playing through it for old times sake.

Now, if they made a full remake, that would be awesome.

Redrex70001520d ago

they just put that game out there out of the blue
wish they did it for the other games

FlavorLav011520d ago (Edited 1520d ago )

We didn’t kill it by not picking up an old ass game with hardly any quality of life updates. That game was absolutely amazing for its time, but it’s capcom’s own fault for such a lame remaster. You want interest from old fans or new fans, you gotta come with something that doesn’t look and feel 3 generations old.

zarbor1520d ago

LOL....the reason we will not see another Onimusha game is not because they put out a dopey HD version of an antiquated game on current gen. The reason we will not see it is the same reason we have not seen a new Dino Crisis, Okami, Strider, Viewtiful Joe, Bionic Commando, etc. Its the same reason everytime.

CrimsonWing691519d ago (Edited 1519d ago )

Oh yea? Tell that to the Darkstalker fans then.

Same thing happened to Zone of the Enders 3.

Flewid6381520d ago

Pass.

Ghost of Tsushima filled that void for me, and then some. I don't see Capcom reaching this level of quality for a single-player game.

FreeckyCake1520d ago

Ghost of Tsushima nor Nioh is nothing like the Onimusha franchise. Onimusha is unique compared to GOT.

1520d ago
MrSwankSinatra1520d ago

lmaoooo what? ghost of tsushima doesn't have anything in common with onimusha out of the character being a samurai lmaooooo

Godmars2901520d ago

How about remakes/reissues of the old ones?

Dirtnapstor1520d ago

We have. It's called Nioh. And it's glorious.

FlavorLav011520d ago (Edited 1520d ago )

Nioh gameplay - world class (10/10)
Nioh story telling - not so much (4/10)

MrSwankSinatra1520d ago

Nioh story is garbage tbh. plus i don't care for the characthers of that series unlike onimusha which had much better writing and characters.

Godmars2901520d ago

Onimusha's main characters, aside from 4, were all based on real actors.

Vithar1520d ago

damn that's cool :) haha never played Onimusha

Onimusha was a great franchise. I wish they'd relaunch the franchise with a next gen entry. Until then though, I guess Sekiro is more than capable of filling the gap left by Onimusha.

CrimsonWing691611d ago

Excellent game and I'm pissed we won't get a port of 2, 3, and Dawn of Dreams so I can get the platinum on them!
