Is GoW really open world? It has one HUB and many close locations.

Semi-open i recon, as linear as those close sections are you can still back travel freely without loading. As good as it is H:ZD still gets my vote.

Ex-PlayStation Boss Shuhei Yoshida Pushed for God of War Reboot Delay

Former PlayStation Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida saw God of War as a "problem" when he first played it, and advocated for its delay.

gold_drake15d ago

yea, its also mentioned in the documentary they did about it.

isarai15d ago

Ye, it just wasn't up to their standards, nothing wrong with that imo

Goodguy0115d ago

And it became one of my most favorite games of all time and I still like it more than the sequel.

goken15d ago

Well if a game/movie/project needs fixing, especially something with the legacy that god of war does. Delay and fix it, don’t ruin the legacy by releasing crap.

Babadook715d ago

Way to go.

Like Miyamoto famously said.

“A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Thank You for 20 Years of God of War - A Tribute to Kratos

Playstation - "Join us in celebrating God of War’s 20th anniversary by looking back at the incredible journey Kratos has taken throughout the last two decades.

On behalf of everyone at Santa Monica Studio, we’d like to thank all of the fans who have supported us over the years. You are the ones who have made it possible for God of War to reach this milestone and we’re more grateful than we can ever express that you’ve given us the chance to keep creating.

Where's the remaster/port of the Greek Saga?

micdagoat1930d ago

On PS3? they "remaster" games that are barely 5 years old. We can't even play the ones from PS3 natively right now on a PS5

micdagoat1930d ago

Sony has been so quiet about that its annoying. I have no idea why they wouldn't

spicelicka30d ago

As much as I love the new God of war saga, I really miss the scale and epic set pieces of the OG games :/

SonyStyled30d ago

Thank you Mr. Jaffe. Few franchises stay relevant for 20 years. Thank you Stig, and Corey too

I feel any more adventures in Greece would just feel forced in, even Ascension felt shoehorned in when it released.

I think the only story they could really do is his journey North after the end of GoW 3, how he survived and in the end how he met Faye.

Cacabunga32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

Ascension is one of the most underrated titles and technically very impressive, i wish they made a remaster of it.
Imo there is s lot to tell still if they do it right. The chain of Olympus episode proved that also

I can’t wait for a side story going back to the roots.

Michiel198931d ago

the multiplayer of that game was actually surprisingly fun, although a bit undercooked since there wasn't much to play for, for a longer period but the gameplay itself was actually kinda cool.

xHeavYx31d ago

I'm gonna be honest, while I do like the newer games, I miss the level of aggression and the giant bosses from the original games. Yeah Kratos evolved and all that, and that's great, but I'd love a spinoff series where they go back to what made the original games so great.

spicelicka31d ago

Ascension is 12 years and 2 generations old. I don't see how anyone wouldn't want to see a current-gen GOW experience in Greek mythology. The only condition would be that they do it in with the classic style of the original games, with a pissed as sociopathic Kratos, epic set pieces and enormous bosses. Can't imagine how crazy a Poseidon type fight would look on PS5.

-Foxtrot31d ago

It doesn’t matter how long it's been...my point is they've told so many stories that adding any more just sounds like "OH AND ONE MORE THING..."

Vits32d ago

I don't trust the current developer to do anything with the Greek God of War. Hopefully, this is more of a spinoff, perhaps a third-party perspective on the events of that saga or something else entirely unrelated.

pwnmaster300032d ago

What’s wrong with the current devs? They killed it with the new ones.
Not calling you out, honestly just curious what’s your take.

Vits32d ago

Nothing is wrong with the current devs when it comes to the current GoW and Kratos. But the issue is that now there are three different characters named Kratos. The first is the original—angry, unreasonable, but also tragic. He had a mission and a clear purpose. Then there’s the new Kratos, who’s older and wiser, but honestly, he feels more like a completely different character than an evolution of the original. And then there’s the flanderized version of the original we see through Valhalla, which is basically there so the devs can say, 'See? Look how much Kratos has grown! Look how terrible he was and how much deeper ours is.'

That’s the fear with the new Greek Saga game from those devs. Instead of the original Kratos, we’d likely get this new take on the older version of him, a character seen through the lens of the current Kratos and, by extension, the current devs. Basically, it’s a disservice to the original series.

So, if it’s true that we’ll be getting a new game set in that era, I hope it’s either something unrelated to the original series or far enough removed to be easy to ignore. Or, at the very least, from devs who want to add to the original mythos rather than those who time and time again try to distance themselves from it.

Eonjay31d ago

@Vits

I totally disagree. The new Kratos would not be who he is now if not for his former self. Character development is not a bad thing. You say 'Then there’s the new Kratos, who’s older and wiser, but honestly, he feels more like a completely different character than an evolution of the original'...you underestimate people's abilty to mature and change. You don't seem to understand that the new series was a second chance for Kratos and he took it. There is nothing unusual or specal about having the capacity to learn and grow. I have grown and changed since I joined N4G back in 2013. How would it be possible for someone to not change over a millennia? That doesn't make sense and the idea that this is a padantic jab at the original fan base is mindblowingly immature and basic.

This idea that gamers are a bunch of basic unchanging protectionists drunk on our nostalgia of former glory is childish and incorrect. GOW 3 is one of my favoirte games of all time and that does not stop me from enjoying the new games. I quite thankful that they gave us something different to enjoy.

neutralgamer199231d ago (Edited 31d ago )

God of war was awesome need more boss fights but ragnork just felt rushed especially the last 25%. You hear so much of what will happen only for it to happen in the background. The last 25% just needed more development time and there felt like quite a lot of cut content. It went from a trilogy to 2 games so just imagine how much had to be cut

You are building go this event that everyone talks about and end of times is coming and I just wish Kratos was more involved in it's outcome.

@Eonjay

No, I perfectly understand that. But if you actually followed your own advice and stopped being the childish fanboy you always portray yourself as, you would have seen that I clearly said there is absolutely nothing wrong with the character in the context of the new series. Try reading instead of just reacting.

And you're really out here comparing yourself to the character? Come on. You have not grown at all. You have always been this little fanboy who runs to defend a console or series you claim to like. Because let's be real, someone as terminally online as you probably does not even play anything. The second it gets "attacked," you jump in like it is your life’s mission. But yeah, the people with actual opinions are the immature ones. Sure.

And of course, GoW 3 is a "favorite" of yours. Because that totally adds something to the conversation. Just like saying "gamers don’t like change." Try actually paying attention to what you read. The issue is not change. The issue is context and how it is portrayed. But I get it, that is probably too much to grasp when your whole personality is just defending a console brand for no reason.

I’ll take it. More games the better

robtion31d ago

Yes but only if they're good. We don't need to see more classic franchises ruined by sub par developers.

The_Blue32d ago

They definitely are saving that for different times.

chicken_in_the_corn32d ago

The backlash to this will be incredible. Saints Row all over again.
