Harrison: "Sony took absolutely the right decision" to recall LBP

Atari president Phil Harrison has told GamesIndustry.biz that he believes Sony took "absolutely the right decision" in recalling LittleBigPlanet over the controversial references made to the Qur'an.

Harrison, who was previously president of Sony Worldwide Studios before taking on his current role - and who championed the title from the very beginning - also thinks that the delay won't affect the game's ultimate success "one iota".

and even i am more optimistic than him, i think the delay is giving LBP more hype due to this problem, and now maybe more muslims will buy the game and non muslims too!!

Chances are the story will be twisted and people wont get told about the change, just about the problem.

Yeah atleast they recalled the product when they thought something was wrong. Unlike MS who knew the 360s had a 16-33% failure rate and didn't bother at all.

Yes this delay is doing more good than bad. I know that i'm even more hyped about this game, and its good that more people will know about it.

"I think it was absolutely the right thing to do, because LittleBigPlanet set out from day one to be a game for the entire world - and if there was anything that accidentally detracted from that vision and made the game not fun for the entire world, then the game would have fundamentally failed in its mission."

He makes a fantastic point. It is a game not just for the west, it is an inclusive game for all the world. Having played the beta, I am disappointed that I have to wait, but that wait will be forgotten once I get my hands on the game. It's a great game that will make history for all the right reasons.

LethalToxins3650d ago

Why? Perhaps do it to all third party devs. A sort of insurgency, if you will. Can't buy 'em, take 'em over from the inside out. :D
